Love of Leaves Fall Challenge
Let’s hear it for Friday! This week has flown by (nothing new there); it seems like it was just Monday! But I’m thrilled to show you my BS&J Fall Challenge Card.
I used the Stampin’ Up!® Love of Leaves Bundle for this challenge. The bundle, from the August-December (A-D) Mini Catalog, includes the Love of Leaves Stamp Set and Stitched Leaves Dies, and you can save 10% by ordering the bundle.
For my card, I die-cut the leaf from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, then embossed the card stock using one of the Greenery Dies from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. I backed the Pumpkin Pie Cardstock with a piece of the Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP), also from the A-D Mini Catalog.
Oh, my goodness – the colors in the Plaid Tidings DSP are so beautiful, and they’re perfect for so many occasions. The papers don’t have all the colors in each paper, of course, but the colors in the papers are Cherry Cobbler, Melon Mambo, Blackberry Bliss, Shaded Spruce, Pretty Peacock, Bumblebee, and Pumpkin Pie. The design I used is primarily Pretty Peacock, but there’s also a little Pumpkin Pie and maybe some Bumblebee, and of course a little Whisper White.
I decided to use some of the Brushed Metallic Cardstock (in Copper) for my background piece. I die-cut/embossed the bottom of this layer with one of the Stitched Leaves dies. This die embosses the paper, but you use the “sandwich” for your die-cutting machine like you’re die-cutting.
I needed to add ribbon, because I tend to hoard ribbon and I’m determined to stop that. I loosely created a multi-layer bow from the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, then cut the desired length. I colored the ribbon with a Light Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend, then re-created the ribbon and tied it with the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo Pack. I love the frayed look with this trim.
So I felt like this card just said, “Look, I’m a die-cut leaf on a card.” Kind of boring, don’t you think? But I didn’t want a tag or banner with a sentiment. I decided to die-cut a small Pumpkin Pie leaf from the Stitched Leaves Dies and stamp it with the sentiment from the Love of Leaves Stamp Set. Perfect!
I can’t wait to see what Jackie & Susan have created for this fall challenge. Take a few minutes to check out what they’ve done, then leave a comment telling them how much you love their cards (because I know you will!).
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day and an amazing weekend!

Thank you, Jackie – and I’m so glad you “encouraged” me to get the DSP. (I love how you used the two different styles in your post.)
