Geared Up To Celebrate
Who else thought the weekend flew by? I can’t believe it’s Monday already. But my weekend was fun. I spent some time in my craft room (always a happy time!) and spent a lot of time reading. Today was rainy and a little chilly, so it was a perfect day to spend snuggled up with a book or four.
Most of the books I read these days are on my Kindle app. I love having an entire library with me wherever I go. Before I picked Amelia up from school Friday, I had a few errands to run. I always overestimate the time my errands will take, so I was at least 20 minutes early, which put me first in the pick up line and a long wait until the end of the school day. No problem – I had my phone, so I started a new book. It’s so much easier to carry a phone or tablet than a bag full of books. My aged back says, “Thank you!” to technology.
Here’s one of the cards I made this weekend when I wasn’t reading. I needed a birthday card for a man, so decided to use the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set for this one.
According to my husband, this is a “muscle car.” Before I met Mike, I had no idea what a muscle car was. Apparently, they’re hopped up with Tim the Tool Man “More Power” engines that are loud and lift wheels off the ground. I only know that it looks a little like the Chevelle his stepdad had when we got married, so I decided to replicate it.
I stamped the car using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then colored with Pumpkin Pie and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. Then I die-cut the image as well as the Champagne Foil gears with the coordinating Garage Gears Dies.
I stamped the sentiment from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Smoky Slate card base, then added a strip of the beautiful Magic of This Night Designer Series Paper. I added the gears and car with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Sometimes I find creating cards for males a little difficult. My stamping tastes run toward flowers and vintage and more feminine images. But I love this card, and will use this design for many of my future “guy cards.”
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Great card and reminder of this wonderful set. Yes, car companies are trying to recapture that muscle car look, and I will admit that I do turn my head when those retro look cars go by!

Thanks, Jackie! We always had sensible family cars and trucks, so I had to get advice on colors from Mike. These cards do turn heads, though!

Thanks, Susan. Yes, it’s fun to see them (although many are very loud and smelly).
