Vintage Poinsettia Petals

Here’s another card we made at this month’s classes using the Poinsettia Petals Bundle from the August – December Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!®

I started with a Merry Merlot card base, then added a layer of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP). Before I adhered it to the card base, I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

Next, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the poinsettia and the berries outline on Very Vanilla Cardstock using Soft Suede Classic Ink. Then I stamped the inside of the berries using Merry Merlot Classic Ink.

I stamped the greenery using Mossy Meadow, and then I cut the berries, poinsettia, and greenery using the Poinsettia Dies. I used Bumblebee and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers to add color to the flower center and pine cones.

The sentiment is stamped in Merry Merlot Classic Ink, then die-cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Before I adhered everything to the card, I sponged all the pieces with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

In my last post, I told you about Amelia’s Fun Run. She did an awesome job and was so cute. I wanted to take pictures, but it was hard because the sun was so bright. But – Mike took some great pictures.

I noticed that in every picture that she sees Mike taking, she poses. This is the first one at the beginning of the race. The course was a large square with four tents marking the course. The idea was to run from tent to tent in the square. Donors could pledge a certain amount per lap or they could give a flat donation. I gave a flat donation.

By the third lap, Miss Amelia changed the course. Instead of running around the square, she ran to the first tent, then halfway to the second tent. There was a medical tent in the middle of the course, so when she reached that, she ran diagonally back to her tent, effectively cutting out at least half of the course. It was so funny, and by the end of the heat, all of the Kinders and First Graders were following Amelia’s course.

The kids could either walk, run, skip, hop – whatever they wanted to do. Here are the first grade girls “silly walking.”

I love this school – The Independent School of Winchester. They have so many cool activities, and the kids are allowed to express their personalities in their uniform choices. Last year Amelia wore cat ears every day; this year, she’s a unicorn. It’s been a little harder this year to do the weekly field trips because of COVID-19, but they still have amazing activities planned every Friday.
