Gather Together

Gather Together

Happy Monday, my friends! I think fall has fallen here in Virginia. The weather has been lovely. Chilly (and even cold!) at night and early morning, then mild temperatures as the day progresses. It’s my favorite time of the year.

One of the fun things about Stampin’ Up!® and crafting in general is that crafters like to swap projects. I participate in a swap with my team and some of our customers, but last month, I joined a swap with a friend’s team. I received a gorgeous card from Judy Scherban, a demonstrator in Connecticut. Her card was gorgeous, and when I needed a fall card recently, I decided to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) her card.

Judy made a Halloween card, but mine is more “generic fall.” (Warning: I did use a few retired products, but, as always, it’s simple to substitute with current products!)

Gather Together, Stampin' Up!

I started with a Basic Black card base, then added a layer of Blackberry Bliss. The next layer is a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of the gorgeous Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper (DSP). This paper is so pretty, and there are a lot of “non-Halloween” designs. This design does have some spider webs, but, honestly, they aren’t specific to Halloween – at least in my house.

I decided to use retired Champagne Glimmer Paper. Judy used the beautiful Black Glimmer Paper from the August-December Mini Catalog, but I didn’t order it. (I know! What was I thinking??) Still, I must have had a design in mind for classes using Champagne Glimmer Paper because I have a lot left over. I sponged some black ink on it, but it wasn’t StazOn ink. The ink didn’t want to dry and stay on the paper, so after I washed my hands – a lot, I covered the glimmer paper with VersaMark, then embossed with black embossing powder. It is much easier to just order the Black Glimmer Paper before it’s gone! I die-cut the Glimmer Paper with the Stitched Labels Dies. And, oh, good grief. Apparently these are also retired. I totally missed that when I moved my retired dies to the back of the die box. I’m sorry. But, again, there are beautiful current products you can use.

For the gorgeous leaves, I used the Gathered Leaves Dies in the Gather Together Bundle. Here’s a fun fact. The Gather Together Bundle (Gather Together Stamp Set and Gathering Leaves Dies) was from last year’s Holiday Catalog, but it returned for the August-December Mini Catalog. Not only did the stamps and dies return, but the bundled price returned as well!

Back to the leaves. I dipped the three leaves into the retired Celestial Copper Delicata Ink from last year’s Holiday Catalog, then ran them through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss with Cajun Craze Cardstock. I love the shimmer it gives the leaves!

I added the leaves to the Glimmer Paper, then adhered some Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon and Metallic Mesh Ribbon underneath the label, then I adhered it to the card.

The sentiment, stamped on Whisper White Cardstock in Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, is also die-cut with the retired dies. But check out the Ornate Frames Dies for a beautiful alternative.

I didn’t plan on this being the point of my blog today, but it fits – if there’s something in a Stampin’ Up!® catalog that you love, be sure to buy it now. You never know whether it will retire or become “unorderable” by the time you decide to order! Don’t be disappointed; order now.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
