Sailing Home Sketch Challenge
Happy Friday, Crafting Friends! First, thank you so much for all of your well-wishes to my Wesley. He’s recovering very well. He’s still a bit sore, but much better every day. He (and Amelia) get a little bored, because they’re used to being on the go, and Wes can’t drive yet. Happily, I’ve had some free time, so I’ve been able to chauffeur them. Today, we went to lunch, and as we were getting ready to leave, Miss Amelia said, “Oh! I need makeup!” And, of course, before I went home after lunch, she had to put a little on me as well. I have to say, she’s getting very good at it. She’s loving the make-up kit we bought yesterday.
Today is another StampOff with Jackie, Susan, and me. This week, we have a sketch challenge. Here’s the sketch.
Today is National Lighthouse Day, so I decided to use the Lighthouse from the Sailing Home Stamp Set.
I stamped the lighthouse on Whisper White Cardstock using Basic Gray Classic Ink, then colored with Night of Navy, Seaside Spray, Gray Granite, and So Saffron Stampin’ Blends. I die-cut it with the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies.
Next, I needed to find some Designer Series Paper (DSP). I went with the beautiful Snowflake Splendor DSP from the August-December Mini Catalog. I love the colors, and it reminds me of a stormy night sky.
For the two center layers, I used Highland Heather and Misty Moonlight. If I had planned the card ahead of creating it, I would have used Misty Moonlight Blends instead of Night of Navy – but it still looks ok.
I cut the card base and the Painted Labels Die from Seaside Spray Cardstock. And finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Path of Petals Stamp Set in Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink on a 1″ wide piece of Purple Posy Cardstock. Then I punched the end with the Banners Pick a Punch, also from the August-December Mini Catalog. You can create three different widths of banners and two different styles. So fun!
I may make a few more of these cards. I love the colors and the images, and I need to have some sympathy cards make ahead of when they’re needed.
Now – head over to Jackie’s and Susan’s blogs to see how they interpreted the sketch. I can’t wait to see! It’s always my Friday “WOW!”
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

This is Beautiful Buffy. I love that you picked the lighthouse and the color combo is lovely. I also love the way you tilted that background layer to look like waves are pushing it off kilter.

This is a very nice card, Buffy. I love your color choices. They work so well together.

Thank you, Susan! I was afraid it would be too “snowflakey,” but I thought it looked more like sea spray.

Great colour combination – soft, but a bit moody. I love the lighthouse 🙂

Thanks, Deborah! They are kind of mood colors, aren’t they? But I love how they go together, and they seemed peaceful for a sympathy card.
