Poinsettia Petals – Christmas in July

It’s been quite warm here the past week, so I decided to do some sneak peeks from the Stampin’ Up!® August – December Mini Catalog. Demonstrators can preorder products from the Mini Catalog now, and the products will be available to everyone on August 4.

I chose the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set for this card. I stamped the smallest and medium sized petals on Very Vanilla Cardstock using Versamark Ink. Then I embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After I die-cut them with the Poinsettia Dies (and, you know the spiel – bundle the stamps and dies and save 10%), I sponged some Crumb Cake Classic Ink over them and added some Crushed Curry Centers.

The berries are also stamped with Versamark and embossed in gold. I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker to add the color, although there is a stamp you can use in the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set.

I wanted to add a little greenery, so I stamped the branches in Pretty Peacock ink and die-cut. I added a bit of Crumb Cake to the pine cones. After I layered the petals, I added all the die-cuts to one of the Ornate Layers die-cuts (also sponged with Crumb Cake Ink).

For a little more texture, I embossed a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla Layer with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. And, of course, I sponged it with more Crumb Cake Classic Ink. I used the For Unto Us Stamp Set from the mini for the sentiment and stamped at the top of the frame using Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink. I love how the Cherry Cobbler and Pretty Peacock elements soften the starkness of the Very Vanilla.

Just for fun, and because I’m committed to stop hoarding ribbon, I added a bow using 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim.
