“Nothing’s Better Than” Waterfall Card

When I was a new Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator, Waterfall Cards were all the rage. I decided to make one after years of neglecting the technique, and I rediscovered the fun! They’re interactive – and that makes people smile and say, “Aaaah!”

I kept this one simple; no fancy tools are needed. I used stamps, ink, paper, my Stampin’ Trimmer, and a hole punch and ribbon.

When you pull the ribbon, the images flip so the next image shows, and you can view them all.

How fun is that? You can choose what kind of day you’ll be having!

Here are the instructions and measurements.

You’ll need:
Old Olive Cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″)
Very Vanilla Cardstock (4″ x 5-1/4″; 1-1/2″ x 8″, four 1-1/2″ squares)
Gold Foil – 1-1/2″ x 4″
Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 3-3/4″ x 5″
Ribbon (All the Trimmings Ribbon Combo Pack – Old Olive*; Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack – Gold)

Stamp images on the four 1-1/2″ squares. I used Calypso Coral Classic Ink for the sentiments, and Basic Gray and Early Espresso for the outline images. I used Old Olive for the coffee cup, Crumb Cake for the cookie, Calypso Coral for the drink with an Old Olive lime and a Calypso Coral umbrella, and Crumb Cake for the chocolate. Set these aside for a minute.

Score the 1-1/2″ x 8″ Very Vanilla strip at 1-1/2″, 2-1/4″, 3″, 3-3/4″. Use a Bone Folder or your fingernail to crease the folds so they’re very pliable. With the scored sections at the bottom, fold the strip at the top score. The front side will be about 3/4″ shorter than the back.

Layer the DSP to the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla piece. Next, lay the scored strip on the DSP so you’ll know how high you need to adhere the Gold Foil band. The shorter side of the strip will be on top of the foil and the longer side underneath. But for now, move the strip out of the way and adhere the Gold Foil band to the DSP using Seal Adhesive just on the outer two edges; the middle of the foil should be open.

Slide the long side of the scored strip back under the Gold Foil. Add Seal to the bottom edge of the front piece and layer it to the Gold Foil, matching the bottom edges.

Now add adhesive to the top edges of the stamped squares and adhere each one just under – not right on – the score line.

Punch a small hole in the bottom center of the long piece for a “pull ribbon.” You don’t have to have it, but it makes it easier to pull. You can also cut the end into a banner. Depending on who you’re sending it to, you may want to add “pull” at the bottom. Just sayin’. Some of us need more instructions than others. Adhere the layers to an Old Olive card base.

That’s it! This one is very simple, but you can also layer the square pieces onto coordinating card stock or DSP and even use die-cuts.
