Sweet & Simple Thanks

Sweet & Simple Thanks

Sometimes you need to make a sweet and simple card. Today was that kind of day for me. I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, because we have cats. Max, our dog, usually sleeps next to me and doesn’t move all night long. Our newer cat, Sarge, stays in the family room, or sleeps at the foot of the bed (until he doesn’t). And then there’s Ashlynn. We usually keep the cats out of the bedroom, because they are, quite frankly, annoying to sleep with. They’re in and out of the room, they walk over us, they knock stuff on the floor, and generally disrupt sleep all night long.

Last night, the bedroom door got left open and Ashlynn hid under the bed. There’s no getting her out once she’s under there. She hid under the bed one time when we were in the mountains. We needed to go home, but she would not come out, and we couldn’t leave her there for two weeks or more. Mike got a brilliant idea. “I’m going to poke her with the broomstick, and when she runs out, you grab her.” After five minutes of uncontrolled laughter, I realized, by his questioning look, that he was serious. I politely commented that if there was any poking to be done, I would be doing it. Because, quite simply, Ashlynn can be very sweet and loving, but for the most part, she’s psychotic.

Mike finally got her wrapped in a towel and we put her in her crate. Having the towel was a good thing, because he used it to put pressure on his bleeding hand for the entire hour-long trip home.

But I digress. Ashlynn was under the bed for the night, so I left the door open in case she needed to leave. She didn’t leave, but at 4 a.m. she decided to see what we were doing. She climbed over me to see Mike. Then she nestled between us for an hour. At 5, she decided she should go for another walk over me. And then she jumped onto the dresser. And then another walk. Around 5:30, she decided to watch the sunrise. Sadly our room faces west so she missed the sunrise, but she made lots of noise climbing into the window to see it.

After missing the sunrise, she hopped back to the dresser and started knocking stuff onto the floor. I finally got my eyes open enough to kick her out of the room without too much bloodshed.

So I needed an easy card today.

Field Journal, Stampin' Up!

Despite my sleep deprivation, I think this turned out well. I stamped the flower in Soft Suede Classic Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock, then colored the leaves and flowers with a Whisper White Watercolor Pencil. Then I stamped the sentiment using Merry Merlot Classic Ink.  I layered the stamped panel to a Merry Merlot card base and added a little Gold Metallic Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. See how simple that was?

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day – and a great night’s sleep!
