Forever Sunflowers
Welcome to another Friday Challenge with Susan, Jackie, and me! This week’s challenge is so fun, because it’s a sketch challenge. Sketch challenges are so fun for me, because they are mostly just a “jumping off” point. You can follow the sketch literally, or you can just use the elements (for example – a circle can be a stamped sentiment, or a punched or die-cut element, or whatever you want!).
I chose a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. This is #FMS356. Here’s the sketch.
You’ll notice (after I show the card) that I didn’t totally follow the sketch, so I may be eliminated from the challenge. Oh, wait – here’s the good news. We don’t really have rules, so even though I added things to the sketch, Susan and Jackie will be cool with it. I hope.
I started with the sketch. I used the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the three vertical strips and the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon for the horizontal piece. But I was so inspired by Susan’s sunflower card a few days ago, I had to copy it.
I tied the Just Jade Gingham Flowers for Every Season around a Soft Seafoam card base for the horizontal layer. Then I added the three Forever Greenery DSP. And then I added my own twist to the sketch.
Using the Sunflowers Dies, I diecut the sunflower base from Bumblebee Cardstock and the overlay from Daffodil Delight Cardstock. I added an Early Espresso Cardstock die-cut to the center of the sunflower. The leaves are die-cut from Old Olive (the overlay) and Granny Apple Green Cardstock (the leaf base).
Obviously, there is no stamping on this card. It’s perfect for an online only class for members who are used to having packets of materials sent (or given) to them for class. While online classes are fun and a great way to connect with stampers from out of town, I really miss being together in person with my stampers. I am looking forward to the day when we can all be together again!
Now – please check out Jackie’s and Susan’s blogs today. I am sure their sketches are absolutely amazing and their projects even more so!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!
