Tropical Fun Fold

Tropical Fun Fold

I had so much fun creating this fun fold card today. Take a look.

Tropical Oasis, Timeless Tropical, Stampin' Up!

So I have to admit, I only have a little over a week before my huge stack of Designer Series Paper (DSP) retires. So I’m looking at as many designs as I can find that use a lot of DSP.

For this card, I used Very Vanilla Cardstock and Very Vanilla Note Cards & Envelopes (sans envelopes). I started with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Very Vanilla card base. Next, I cut a 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ “flap” from Very Vanilla Cardstock and scored the long side at 1/2″. I cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ layer of the Tropical Oasis DSP, added SNAIL to all four sides of the back, then placed the 1/2″ tab of the flap behind the DSP. Then I added the DSP and flap to the Very Vanilla card base.

I trimmed the Very Vanilla Note Card to 3″ x 4-1/2″. I added a 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″  piece of the Mossy Meadow DSP to the back of the note card, then adhered it to the card. (Note: Be sure you add adhesive to the front of the note card, so the DSP on the back is shown, and the card opens backwards.)

I cut a 1-1/4″ x 2-3/4″piece of the leftover Tropical Oasis DSP and layered it to the flap. But, sadly, the card and flap don’t stay closed.

To use up some of my leftover 2018-2020 In Color Cardstock, I die-cut the three small flowers from the In The Tropics Dies from Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch Cardstock. For this card, I adhered the three Lovely Lipstick flowers to the flap, then added the Pineapple Punch floral centers using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This still didn’t keep the card closed, of course, so I used the Small Bloom Punch from Sale-a-bration to punch one Pineapple Punch and two Grapefruit Grove flowers. (If you didn’t get this punch during Sale-a-bration, don’t worry. You may see it again!) I added a glue dot behind one of the Pineapple Punch flower petals so the flap could slip behind it to keep the card closed.  When you slip the flap from under the flower, the card opens like this.

Timeless Tropical, Tropical Oasis, Stampin' Up!You can write a note to the recipient, or you can stamp a sentiment in the note card.

I punched 1/4″ circles from Lovely Lipstick for the centers of the flowers. This punch has retired, but there are other dies and embellishments you can use for flower centers. Any self-adhesive sequins or enamel dots would look awesome!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
