Tea Together Pop-Up Card
I think the warm(ish) weather is finally here to stay! Even the rain held off for the weekend so we could get some yard work done. We still have lots to do, but we’re getting there.
I found instructions for a “Quarter Sheet Pop-Up Card” a few weeks ago. It’s an easy pop-up card that folds flat for mailing. My instructions are from Julie Davison, who got them from Libby Fens, who got them from someone else, so I don’t know who the original creator of the fold is.
I used the Tea Together Stamp Set that will be retiring in a couple weeks. This set has coordinating dies, and it makes a lovely Mother’s Day, anniversary, birthday, or note card.
Isn’t that fun? Here are the dimensions for the card.
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Seaside Spray, scored at 2-3/4″ (with the 5-1/2″ side at the top)
2-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ Seaside Spray, scored at 1/2″ 2-1/4″, and 4″ (with the long side at the top)
1-1/4″ x 6-1/2″ So Saffron, Scored at 1/2″ and 6″
Stamp the teacup, teapot, and flowers in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Color with Seaside Spray, So Saffron, Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. Die-cut with the coordinating Tea Time Dies.
I stamped one of the Woven Heirlooms patterns repeatedly on the So Saffron Cardstock strip using So Saffron Ink, just to give a little texture look.
Fold the 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Seaside Spray in. You don’t have to make a sharp fold; it’s more of a “bend.” This will be a valley fold.
Fold the 1/2″ tabs and center of the 2-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece to create mountain folds. Crease the 1/2″ tabs, but the center fold does not need a sharp crease. Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the tabs and adhere to the 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece, lining up the center folds and bottoms of the card stock.
Crease the 1/2″ tabs on the So Saffron Cardstock strip, folding the tabs back. Use your finger or a bone folder to slightly curl the So Saffron strip. Add Tear & Tape Adhesive, and adhere to the 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Seaside Spray Cardstock, lining up the sides and bottoms.
Adhere the floral and teapot/cup pieces. Be mindful of placement. You don’t want to glue over the scorelines, and you want to keep them within the confines of the card base (so it will fit in an envelope). When you’re finished, the card will look like this from the top.
You can also add Designer Series Paper (DSP) or coordinating card stock to the panels. If you do this, be sure to add the DSP before you begin adding the other elements of the card. (I know that goes without saying, but learn from my goofs!)
Your card will pop up when it’s bent from the center, but folds flat so you don’t need a larger envelope.
Give this fold a try! You’ll be surprised at how easy it is, and the recipient will love it.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!
