Celebrate You!
Happy “hump day,” Stampers! I hope your week is going well. Stampin’ Up!® is having a virtual event this week, so I’m having a blast! It’s been fun seeing some ideas for using the 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog products.
Today, I have another “retiring product” card for you. One of my favorite “whimsical” sets was the Animal Outing Stamp Set and the coordinating Animal Friends Dies. Here’s a fun gatefold card I made using those products.
Gatefold cards are so fun, because they’re unexpected! They open from the center instead of from the side or bottom. For this card, I cut a piece Mossy Meadow Cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Then I scored 2-1/8″ from each side with the 8-1/2″ at the top of the score board (2-1/8″ and 6-3/8″). Then I folded the 2-1/8″ flaps to the center. I added 2″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) to each front flap.
Next, I cut a square from Whisper White Cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Dies and a Whisper White rectangle using the Ornate Layers Dies. I stamped the sentiment on the Ornate Layers Rectangle using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink.
Again on Whisper White I stamped the leaves and frog and the hippo images from the Animal Outing Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. After I die-cut the images with the Animal Friends Die-cuts, I colored with Mossy Meadoy, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, and Real Red Stampin’ Blends. I used the Animal Friends Dies to die-cut the images, then layered them to the rectangle and square die-cuts. And then I adhered the die-cuts to the left side of the card (the sentiment) and the bottom right side of the card (the hippo). Be sure you only add adhesive to the side that is adhered to the card. The left side of the hippo and the right side of the sentiment should have no adhesive on them or you’ll glue your card closed. (Ask me how I know this!)
You can leave the card like that, or you can add a center. I added a center.
I adhered a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock to the center of the card. I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow Classic Ink, then added the giraffe image. I stamped the giraffe in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then colored with So Saffron and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. In retrospect, I think I should have moved my giraffe a little lower, because he looks a little decapitated. Oops.
Gatefold cards are fun and super easy! Give this one a try today. But remember, the Animal Outing Stamp Set and Animal Friends Dies are retiring, so order today before they’re gone!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, Jackie! I have so much DSP to use up, and felt like this would work really well with the animals.
