Meadow Birthday
Good Monday Morning, Crafty Friends! We’re “enjoying” another soggy spring. The weekend was lovely, but we’re back to drizzles today. Still, it’s good crafting weather!
My Dad turned 88 a couple weeks ago. Finding stamps to make a card for my dad is sometimes a challenge. My dad doesn’t golf and I don’t think he’s ever grilled anything except over an open fire. He used to fish occasionally, but mostly he really has never had any hobbies. Dad is a farmer, so between the cattle, orchards, garden, and three kids, he didn’t have a lot of free time. When he did have time to spend on himself, he read. Most evenings, we could find Dad in his recliner reading a book, a wildlife magazine, or his Bible.
Since the apple trees around my parents’ house were starting to bud, I decided to use the My Meadow Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!®. I love this set, and it works very well alone or with the Waterfront and Snow Front Stamp Sets for creating scenes.
For this card, I stamped the gazebo in Gray Granite Classic Ink. Before I added any more stamped images, I painted the grass and the sky with Garden Green and Balmy Blue ink and an Aqua Painter and let it dry. Since I used Shimmery White Card Stock, the water blended very well.
Next I added Early Espresso trees, with Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo blossoms. Tulips are one of my favorite spring flowers, so I stamped a few using Lovely Lipstick Classic Ink and more Garden Green.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Sending You Thoughts. This was a Sale-a-bration Stamp Set, which is no longer available. However, Stampin’ Up!® has lots of sentiment stamps that would work perfectly on this card.
Because the “pieces” of images in this stamp set are separate – like tree trunks and blossoms/leaves, stems and flowers – scenes with this stamp set are really simple to put together. Give it a try!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
