Ornate Moments

Ornate Moments

It’s Friday! I don’t know why that excites me so much; weekends are pretty much the same as every other day lately. Last Monday, Mike kept thinking it was Thursday. On Wednesday, he thought it was Tuesday. We’re all mixed up here at the Cooper house.

I’ve been having a lot of fun “finding rainbows” during this time. My recent Stampin’ Up!® order came Wednesday. I had forgotten about it, because it wasn’t super exciting – just card stock and envelopes. Oh – and a few Stampin’ Blends. I think I mentioned I made some cards for Mike to send to clients. Actually, it was more than “some.” But it seriously depleted my envelope stash as well as a few of my Stampin’ Blends, so it was time to replenish. And although Stampin’ Up!® has warned us that shipping may take a bit longer due to the smaller work force (they’ve added an extra shift so they can split employees into smaller groups so they can maintain social distancing, but they can only ship on one shift), it really didn’t take much longer than normal. And it was also the end of the quarter/end of Sale-a-bration, which always adds time as well. Getting it within 10 days of the order was a very happy surprise.

Also on Wednesday, I helped a friend discover Zoom, and we had a blast chatting for a few minutes before dinner. So fun! And Thursday evening, area Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators got together for a Zoom gathering. A few who aren’t local also got to join us since we were online. It was awesome to “see” everyone!

One of the best rainbows this week was getting to FaceTime with Amelia. I’m so glad to be living in the 21st century!

Today, I have another Ornate Layers card for you. This time, I paired it with the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set from the January – June Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog (JJMC).

Beautiful Moments, Stampin' Up!

My friend Jackie (the “J” in our Friday BS&J Challenges) had a gorgeous card on her blog the other day that used similar colors. I loved the Mint Macaron and Very Vanilla that she used. Actually, I may CASE her card completely, because it was so pretty. (There was sponging, which is a quick way to my heart. And a quick way to give Susan – “S” in the challenges – hives, but I digress.)

First, I die-cut the beautiful frame from Mint Macaron Cardstock. (Hint: You may need a shim. If you have the Precision Base Plate we used to sell, it really helps with cutting the frame because there’s a lot of ornate detail!) Then I die-cut a Very Vanilla stitched rectangle that would fit inside the frame.

I stamped the main image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto the Very Vanilla rectangle, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. Finally, I added the butterflies and sentiment in Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink.

I embossed the front of the Soft Seafoam card base with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. Then I popped up the frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and adhered the stamped layer to the center.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Hope you’re finding rainbows (and sunshine) every day. Some days, I have to look a little harder than others, but they’re still there!

Rob had all the days mixed up too. It is hard to keep track when everyday is Groundhog Day! I love the colors you used on your card. The pop of purple really makes it!

I have been playing with this set too. Just made a Sepia style card with it. Stay safe.

Love, love, love, the colors on this — who said Mint Macaron isn’t a beauteous color. So now you enabled me yet again. Had to order that ornate die. I was going to pass. Still sitting on my hands trying not to order the emb folder. Wanna bet I give in to that one too?
