Meadow Flowers

What a crazy week this has been! Here in Virginia, as in many other states, the governor has mandated K-12 school closings for two weeks. That means Miss Amelia is out of school for three weeks, since their spring break is the week after the quarantine is over. I don’t know if her parents’ businesses will be closing (obviously not Wesley’s, since he’s a Correctional Officer!). If they don’t, I get to play with my favorite girl several days each week. I’m so excited. Sadly, the things on our “want to do” list will take more than three weeks. Still, we’ll have a blast.

Here’s one of the cards from our March classes. I used the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (DSP), but there wasn’t enough of the Blackberry Bliss design for everyone, so some attendees can choose Lovely Lipstick.

The My Meadow Stamp Set was one of the first sets in the Stampin’ Up!® January-June Mini Catalog that caught my eye. Some of the scenes can get quite involved, and I knew I had some new stampers in class, so I kept it on the simple side.

First, we stamped the wheelbarrow base in Basic Gray Classic Ink, then the bucket in either Lovely Lipstick or Gorgeous Grape. Next, we stamped the ground in Garden Green Classic Ink (the purple card uses Mossy Meadow, but that was a little too dark for spring).

The flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry and the leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green Classic Ink. We die-cut the image with a Stitched Shapes Die, then a larger Crushed Curry scalloped circle using the Layering Circles Dies.

A fun element that I forgot to photograph is what happened under the DSP. We die-cut a circle from the front of the Garden Green card base, then adhered the DSP over the front of the card. Now the reverse side of the paper shows when you open the card.

On a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, we stamped the sentiment from the Thanks for the Laughs Stamp Set in either Lovely Lipstick or Gorgeous Grape, then adhered to the circles, and then to the card. Easy!

I was very happy that two of my attendees were teenagers and they loved all the cards. They were so sweet and did an awesome job.

I hope you’re staying well and are getting adequate liquids, rest, and nourishment during this stressful time in our world. I wash my hands often in normal times, but now I’ve doubled (or tripled) up. I need to remember to add extra hand lotion!
