Make Today Amazing

Make Today Amazing

When I was in high school, I loved to watch Good Morning, America, with host David Hartman, while I was getting ready for school. His “sign-off” phrase was, “Go out and make it a good day.” I loved that, because it put me in charge of my day. I was responsible for how my day went, and if something went wrong, it was up to me to figure out how to turn it into a learning experience or to remember how many good things outweighed the one bad.

I also need a cup (or a pot, actually) of coffee in the morning to help me get into an amazing frame of mind to “make it a good day,” so I knew the Rise & Shine Stamp Set from the Sale-a-bration (SAB) second release was going to find its way into my craft room. I love the sentiments and the reversible images, and I already have the coordinating Cup of Cheer Dies, so it was a match made in heaven, right?

I promised on my Stamping with Buffy Facebook Page (you can “like” it here!) that I’d show a card I made using another SAB second release product, Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). This is it!

Rise & Shine, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-bration

First, I cut a 2″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the grid pattern, knowing I wanted to color it with Pigment Sprinkles but not having a clue what I was going to use it for after. I was hoping inspiration would strike.

I tapped a little Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, and Gorgeous Grape diagonally across the paper from top to bottom. The colors in Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape, and Bermuda Bay are very saturated, so I used just a little bit of those colors (like a tap and a half). They tend to overpower the other three, so I did two-three taps of Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, and Granny Apple Green.

After I spritzed it with water, I used a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock to mop up the excess. You can use a paper towel, but as my friend Emilie said, why waste that beautiful color? If you use card stock, you get an extra background. (Wise woman, that Emilie!) And, bonus!! The foil resists the ink, so when you blot it with the cardstock, you get the grid pattern as well as the color. Fun!

As I looked at my new creation, it looked to me like a sunrise over a flower garden. I needed a “gender neutral” card for my classes this month, and this would be perfect. No flowers. No swirls and hearts and “girlie” elements. And everyone drinks something from a mug – tea, coffee, hot chocolate. I even had a supervisor in my college work study days who drank diet soda from her coffee mug. So it’s a card for anyone!

I stamped the mug in Mango Melody on Whisper White Cardstock, then die-cut with the Cup of Cheer dies. I stamped the sunburst image using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink, and Rise and Shine in Melon Mambo.

Now, for the card. I wanted to use Daffodil Delight, because it’s a happy, morning color. I stamped the Make Today Amazing sentiment in Gorgeous Grape on the bottom corner, then embossed the top part of the card front with the Stone 3D Embossing Folder (part of the Power of Hope SAB Bundle). It’s easy to “partially emboss.” Simply place the card front into the embossing folder. When you place the 3D Embossing Folder Plate over the embossing folder, only cover the portion you want to emboss. Your sandwich will look like this.

Stampin' Up!, 3D Embossing Folder Plate

Since the Embossing Folder Plate is not covering the bottom of the card, it won’t get embossed. Easy!

After I embossed, I adhered the beautiful DSP to the card, then added the mug with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This card makes me happy. I love the colors, the foil, the coffee (or whatever you want to be in the mug), and the positive sentiment. It inspires me to go do something amazing today. For me, that means getting my swaps for March done!

I also love all the free products on this card. You only have through March 31 to earn free SAB products. The beautiful DSP is free with a $50 order. The Rise & Shine Stamp Set is free with a $100 order, and you can earn the Power of Hope Bundle with a $100 order.

You can see all the SAB options here. Remember, you get a free Level 1 SAB product with every $50 order. If you order $100 in product, you can select two Level 1 products or one Level 2 product. Don’t miss out on all the free products you will love! Order today, because SAB ends March 31, 2020.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
