You’re Amazing
The Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog didn’t really catch my interest when I first saw it. I liked it, but I had other sets that were close in style, so I ordered other sets that were very different from ones I already had.
But then Susan and Jackie started doing such lovely things with the set and I got pushed over the line. Here’s a card I made for my mom using the Beautiful Friendship and Thanks for the Laughs stamp sets.
I love these colors, don’t you? I used Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, and Pacific Point Classic Ink with Whisper White and Pacific Point Cardstock. This looks awesome with Blueberry Bushel, but I’m running low on Blueberry Bushel Cardstock. Remember, Blueberry Bushel is a 2018-2020 In Color, so if you love it, you’d better stock up while you can! It will be retiring when the 2020 Annual Catalog comes out in June, and once supplies are depleted, they’re gone forever. (Of course, there’s always that small chance that retired colors will return with another Color Refresh, but since we just had one, it will probably be a couple of years before another one. But that’s just a guess.)
First, I stamped the large roses along the side of the Whisper White Cardstock in Bermuda Bay Classic Ink. Then I added leaves using Granny Apple Green.
For the smaller buds in the lower right corner, I inked the stamp using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink, then cleaned the ink from the stems. I’m fairly sure I used my finger, but you can use a cloth or a Blender Pen if you don’t want inky fingers. I re-inked the stems with a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker, then stamped onto the card stock. (Tip: If you’re using Stampin’ Write Markers with photopolymer stamps, you might want to use the Stamparatus. Sometimes you don’t get quite the coverage using markers on photopolymer stamps, so if you use a Stamparatus, you can stamp multiple times until you’re satisfied.)
The sentiment, from the Thanks for the Laughs Stamp Set, is stamped in Pacific Point Classic Ink. (The inside sentiment says, “Today you get it in writing.” I added a few more rosebuds inside.)
This sentiment is perfect for my mom, because every day I think about what an amazing woman she is. She is the best mom and has always been a perfect partner for my dad – in life and in business. They’ve weathered a lot of storms in almost 64 years of marriage, and they’ve always come through wiser and stronger. I cannot imagine having better parents or a more awesome childhood. Every day was an adventure, and Dad and Mom were always there to help guide us through.
I tried to be like Mom when the boys were growing up. I know I missed the mark – a lot! – but, happily, being a grandma is like having a “do-over,” – but with more sleep.
Since I was raised with brothers and raised two boys, having a little girl around is a bit different for me. But it’s so much fun. A few months ago, I was shopping for a new purse. Amelia decided she should help. She started searching through all the purses, then abruptly stopped. “Seesa,” she said, turning to me, “how do you feel about a backpack?”
“Hmmm. I think I may be a little old for a backpack.”
“Well, I think you could pull it off, but ok.” After another few minutes of searching, she discovered a lovely purse that was also in the right price range (cheap). Perfect!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
