Double Masked Birthday
Welcome to another Stamp Off challenge with Susan, Jackie, and me. This week, we’re masking. There are several ways to mask. You can cover a stamped image so you can stamp behind it (repositionable sticky notes are perfect for this), you can use a masking fluid, or you can use stencils (or, as Stampin’ Up!® calls them, “masks”). I chose to use the Pattern Party Decorative Masks with my card.
First, I used the Mandala image mask. I centered it on Whisper White Cardstock, the sponged with Coastal Cabana Classic Ink. Next, I removed the Mandala mask and placed the diamond image mask over the sponged Whisper White layer and sponged again using Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink. I adhered this layer to a Coastal Cabana card base.
The flowers are from the Floral Essence Stamp Set. I stamped one in Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and the other two in Highland Heather Classic Ink. (To create the flowers, you need to stamp two sets of petals for each flower.) I colored them with Highland Heather and Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, then punched with the Perennial Flower Punch. (You can bundle the Floral Essence Stamp Set and Perennial Flower Punch through June 2, 2020, and save 10%.) I layered the petals to create the three flowers, then set them aside for a minute.
The leaves are also from the Floral Essence Stamp Set. I stamped them three times in Granny Apple Green Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then pumched with the Leaf Punch. I love that this new stamp set coordinates with an existing punch!
I wanted a little something between the mask and the flowers, so I colored the back of a Pearlized Doily with a Light Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend. You can color on the pearlized side, but it will be much lighter. I adhered the doily to the center of the card, then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the leaves and flowers. After everything was secure, I added the Perennial Essence Floral Centers to the flowers.
The happy birthday sentiment – from the Sending You Thoughts Sale-a-bration (SAB) Stamp Set – is stamped in Gorgeous Grape and punched with the Tailored Tag Punch. If you purchase the Floral Essence Bundle, Leaf Punch, and Perennial Essence Floral Centers, you can earn any Level 1 SAB product free!
Before you head out, please take a look at how Susan and Jackie masked their projects today. I can’t wait to see what they’ve created.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, Susan! I was happy with the way it turned out. Every time I hear “mask,” I think “stencil,” so my brain just automatically went there.

Thanks, Jackie! Turquoise and Purple seem to be my color combo of choice lately. Probably because of all the “Frozen II” stuff out there. Disney is sending me subliminal messages. 🙂

Oh, I love the layered stencils!! (and I still have those, too). The colour combination is so pretty – I like your reply to Jackie about all of the ‘Frozen’ merchandise LOL
