My Favorite Sketch
Sometimes you find a sketch or layout that is so perfect that you just have to use it whenever you can. This is that sketch. It’s so versatile, because it can be used for any occasion. You can use any colors or punches or dies or paper… On top of all the versatility goodness, it’s super easy and quick, so it’s easy to create at the last minute. Intrigued? Take a look.
What a Versatile Sketch
How simple is this? When we headed to the mountain cabin for a retreat this weekend, I took one bag of supplies with me and I was still able to create this card. Ok, I didn’t take my embossing folder and die-cut machine, so I had to finish it at home. Even then, it only took about 10 minutes total to create. And it’s still elegant and beautiful, don’t you think? And it not only works for any occasion, it works for all ages and genders as well. Simply change the sentiment and Designer Series Paper (DSP) – and even the punch/die for the sentiment, and you have a perfect card for anything.
Details for My Note Card
For my card, I embossed 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder, then adhered it to a Blackberry Bliss card base. Next, I layered a 1-1/2″ x 5″ piece of the See a Silhouette DSP to a 1-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Night of Navy Cardstock and adhered it to the card.
I stamped the sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set in Night of Navy Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then punched with a 2″ Circle Punch. I layered this to a Blackberry Bliss circle punched with the 2-1/4″ circle punch and added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Ok, you caught me. I used a 2-1/2″ circle punch. But the 2-1/4″ will work just as well – or even better! Or you can use the Layering Circles Dies or Stitched Shapes Dies.)
Adapting the Card to any Occasion
Well, now that we’re talking about how to change the card elements, what if you use the Stitched Nested Labels Dies with a Christmas sentiment and the Wrapped in Plaid DSP with coordinating card stock colors for a fun Christmas card? Or maybe the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP with the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set and Layering Squares Dies? Or maybe the Stitched Rectangle Dies? Or maybe the Smooth Sailing Bundle and Come Sail Away DSP for a birthday or Father’s Day? The possibilities are endless with this sketch. And if you don’t want to emboss the Whisper White layer, you can always stamp a light background with your stamp choice.
I know I’ll be using this sketch a lot. And I have to thank my dear friend Jackie Susnik for introducing me to it. She and my friend Susan Horr (the S & J in the BS&J stamp off Fridays) inspire me more than they’ll ever know.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
