Birthday on Daisy Lane
Can it really be Wednesday already? They say the older you get the faster time flies. Whoever “they” are, they’re right! It seems like I just blink and another week has passed.
If you follow my blog, or if you’ve been reading for awhile, you know I’m the “B” in the BS&J Stamp Off every other Friday. The “J” is Jackie who has a birthday this month. I’m usually really late with birthday cards. I procrastinate, because I want cards to be perfect for the person I make them for, and then I’m late for the birthday. Or I make the card early, I forget where I put it, and I’m still late. Susan, the “S” is BS&J, is always early with her cards. In fact, I’m expecting a Christmas card any day now. Jackie is also always on time, so I made an extra special effort in August and October to get their cards to them on time.
Here’s the card I made for Jackie.
I had so much fun creating this card! I have a tunic that I wear with skinny jeans, leggings, and capris that kind of looks like this. It’s Amelia’s favorite top. Whenever she picks out my clothes for the day, that’s the top she picks. And when I wear it (and she hasn’t picked it out), she always tells me how much she loves it. She’s so funny. She even drew a picture of me one day when I wore it, and she added the flowers.
Anyway – when I was thinking about a card for Jackie, I was wearing said top and it gave me inspiration.
I decided that the Daisy Lane Stamp Set was perfect for this. I stamped the ferns several times in VersaMark Ink on Basic Black Card Stock, then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It was simple and quick to color them with a Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend. This is an awesome way to have lightly colored images on a dark background.
Next, I stamped the large and small daisies in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. I used Night of Navy, Lovely Lipstick, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to color the flowers. I may have used some Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray, but it’s been awhile since I made it, and I can’t remember.
I punched the daisies with the Daisy and Medium Daisy Punches, then added them to the card. The sentiment stumped me for a few minutes. I didn’t want to cover too much of my daisies, so I didn’t want to add a punched tag. And, as usual, I didn’t leave room to stamp a sentiment. So – Well Written Dies to the rescue! I die-cut birthday and wishes from Lovely Lipstick Cardstock and added it to the card. (Hint: Be sure to save the “i” dots from birthday and wishes!)
I added the Basic Black layer to an Old Olive card base.
So – Happy Birthday, Jackie! Hope you have a marvelous day!
