Sip Sip Hooray!

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already! This week has flown by. Now if I could just say, “Summer is over!” It was sweltering here today. Well, if you live in the Deep South, you might not thing 91 degrees is sweltering, but here in the “Upper South” (I just made that up; I guess we’re really “Mid-Atlantic,” but I like “Upper South” better), it’s hot!

I made this card last week for a friend of mine. I used the Sip Sip Hooray Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Holiday Catalog.

First, I have to say I absolutely love the Delicata® Metallic Ink. It’s perfect for stamping, because it dries quickly. You can emboss with it, but you don’t have to.

For this card, I stamped the glasses in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then stamped the drink in the Golden Glitz Delicata® Ink. I also used the Golden Glitz for the sip sip and the bubbles. I used Pretty Peacock Classic Ink to stamp Hooray!

I die-cut the “bubbles” using the Sip and Celebrate Dies and Whisper White Cardstock, then backed the bubbles with Gold Foil. The Whisper White piece is attached to a Pretty Peacock card base. This makes a very simple card, but it shows off the gold elements nicely.

So here’s a Miss Amelia update. She’s adjusting very well to school. She was used to being the only child in our “day care,” so if I said, “It’s time for (whatever),” she could negotiate. “May I finish my drawing first?” or “May I finish coloring this picture?” I totally understand that, because I want to finish my projects before I have to clean up and do something else. So we worked really well together. But when you’re in a setting with other children, sticking to a schedule is important. She’s learning, though.

The first thing she told me when I picked her up today was, “I listened really well today!” She was so proud, and I let her know how proud I was of her. It’s hard to be an independent woman and have to follow someone else’s instructions. After being in charge of family businesses for 25+ years, it was very hard for me to go to work for someone else. (I only lasted five months before I just couldn’t take it. I hope she lasts longer than that!)

Amelia does love school and is making lots of friends. Her school is amazing. They have field trips every Friday afternoon (except for the one Friday each month that they dismiss early), and every Monday afternoon, the Kindergarten and Lower Elementary students have swimming lessons. She loves that, because she was really starting to enjoy the pool this summer. The other three days, they have art, music, and other fun subjects in the afternoon. She has been entertaining me with her new songs. Yesterday, she started singing John Denver’s Country Roads. I think that was from the music on the ride to the pool, though.
