Frosted Foliage Swap

Happy Monday, Stamping Friends! Wow, this month is flying by. I can’t believe September is over halfway finished. Mike & I are in Williamsburg, this week for a conference. Even though it’s not a paper crafting conference, I’m looking forward to learning some new things about marketing and social media! And, of course, next to home, Williamsburg is my favorite place in Virginia. Colonial Williamsburg has always been one of my favorite vacation destinations, because Mike and I are both history buffs. We have wonderful memories of visiting here with the boys.

Last weekend, I got together with seven other Stampin’ Up!® demonstators for a Shoebox Swap. Each of us designed a card, then prepared enough supplies for everyone to make the card. It was so much fun, and we had three demos from Warrenton, VA, join us. It was awesome to meet Marsha, Tiffany, and Shari. And I always have a wonderful time crafting with Judy, Christy, Chris, and Jennie.

I’ll show you all the cards over the next couple of weeks. I let Mike pick the first card, and he chose mine because it was blue. He always chooses “the blue card.” There were two other “blue” cards, and I would have gone with one of those first, but I think he knew which one I designed and wanted to make me feel good.

I used Seaside Spray, Blueberry Bushel, and the absolutely gorgeous Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). Honestly, with this paper, you don’t really need to add anything. It does all the work on its own.

First, I embossed the 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Blueberry Bushel Cardstock with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder in the Holiday Catalog. Next, I added a 2″ x 5″ strip of Feels Like Frost DSP to the front of the Blueberry Bushel layer. (Note: I had already cut all the pieces, so after embossing the card stock, we had to trim a tinch off the DSP since the embossing shrank the card stock a little.)

Next, for the shoebox swap, we wrapped a piece of Blueberry Bushel Ribbon over the left edge of the DSP and adhered to the back of the card stock before adhering the Blueberry Bushel layer to the Seaside Spray card base. But after I had cut all the Blueberry ribbon, I remembered I had the Seaside Spray 1/4″ Metallic Ribbon from the Holiday Catalog. It looks much better. Since I had cut a few extra cards, I used the metallic ribbon on this one.

The Night of Navy Noble Peacock Foil Sheets diecuts are foliage from the Frosted Frames Dies (which I bundled with the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set to save 10%). I needed a little something extra, so I added the seaweed diecut from the Under the Sea dies (in the Annual Catalog) in Seaside Spray Cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment – also from the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set – on Seaside Spray Cardstock with Blueberry Bushel Classic ink. Then I punched with the Story Label Punch.

Our goal for the swap was to have each card take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. I did the die-cutting ahead of time, so it was basically, “Emboss, Stamp, punch, glue.” Pretty simple!

Wait until you see the rest of the cards! They are all so beautiful!
