Christmas Wishes
I just want to offer my apologies to anyone who thinks it’s too early to post Christmas cards. Mike went to Costco today and they already had Christmas stuff out. While I think this is a little early for Christmas decorations, it’s not too early to start planning your holiday cards. If you have to make a lot, it’s easier to start on them now so you can spend the last month or so before the holidays to do your baking, gift shopping, and decorating.
This is my “Salute to Virginia” card that I almost posted last Friday for our BS&J challenge. I used the Toile Christmas Stamp Set from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog.
As I mentioned in my post last Friday, I didn’t plan on buying the Toile Christmas Stamp Set. I’ve bought almost every cardinal set Stampin’ Up!® has offered since I became a demonstrator, and I wasn’t going to add another to my collection. But then Amelia saw the catalog, and decided this could also be a blue jay… Well, all the grandmas out there know what happened. I caved and bought the set for her, but totally forgot it’s a bundle! There are aweome dies you can bundle with the stamp set and save 10%. I’ll be adding the dies soon (and kicking myself that I didn’t bundle them!).
All of the stamps on this card are from the Toile Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped the branch and berries in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White panel. On another piece of Whisper White Cardstock, I stamped the bird and the sentiment, also in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
I colored the bird with Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler, Dark Pumpkin Pie, and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. The branch is stamped with Dark Crumb Cake, Light and Dark Call Me Clover, and Dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends. And I colored the sentiment banner with Light Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Blends. (Yes, it would have been easier to just stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black on Soft Seafoam Cardstock, but I think I’ve mentioned before that I don’t always plan my “first attempts.”)
Since I spaced out on the bundle and didn’t have the Christmas Cardinal Dies, I fussy cut the sentiment banner and the bird. You will have much more fun if you order the bundle, trust me!
I added the sentiment and cardinal with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought there should be a little more greenery, so I die-cut some greenery from Call Me Clover and Soft Seafoam Cardstock using the Frosted Frames Dies. The Whisper White Cardstock layer is adhered to a Call Me Clover card base.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Hope you have a lovely day!
