Blue Birthday

My favorite summer dress has lots of blues – Blueberry Bushel, Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana –  and a little Granny Apple Green in it. I love the color combination, so I decided to create a card using those Stampin’ Up!® colors.

I started with a Coastal Cabana Cardstock base, then added a layer of Pacific Point Cardstock. On a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock, I used a Pattern Party Decorative Mask and sponged all the blues and green over the mask to create a gorgeous background. I added a scalloped border using the die in the Seasonal Layers Dies.

Next, I die-cut floral images from the Seasonal Layers Dies, then put the negative into my Stamparatus. Next, I added the flowers (two at a time) back into the negative spaces and stamped Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana, and Granny Apple Green flowers from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. It was so quick, and each stamped image turned out perfectly because I used the Stamparatus.

Oh, goodness. I totally missed that the Happy Birthday die was retired. You can use the Word Wishes Dies or the Well Written Dies instead. I die-cut two from Blueberry Bushel Cardstock then layered them together to get a little more dimension. (Thanks, Deborah Smart, for that idea!)

All that was left was to put it all together. I added some embellishments to the centers of the flowers. I think they’re retired, too. I simply must start using my embellishments before they retire. Still, there are lots of options that will work just as nicely – the Rhinestone Basic Jewels or the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets would be my first choice.
