Fun Fold Stamp Off
Welcome to another Friday Stamp Off with Susan, Jackie & me. This week, we have a fun-fold challenge.
I love to use funky folds on cards. Not only are they fun to receive, but they’re also fun to make. For my card this week, I used a fun fold, but it’s more of a decoration than part of the card.
I’ve seen this fold called “curtain,” “double curtain,” and “drapery.” Whichever name you give it, it’s really fun and easy. We made a card similar to this one for one of our team meetings. I wasn’t able to be there, so I decided to recreate it with different supplies later.
Start with a Garden Green Cardstock base. Stamp a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock with the ferns from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set. Use Mint Macaron Classic Ink, stamping off each time before stamping on the Mint Macaron layer. Next create the “Drapery Fold” piece.
I used a 5″ x 10″ piece of the Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my card. The design works well with the colors and the Daisy Lane fern background. 5″ x 10″ is a perfect size, because you can get two cards from one piece of DSP.
First – with the 10″ side at the top of your Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score the DSP at 1″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, 3″, 4″, 4-1/2″, 5-1/2″, 6″, 7″, 7-1/2″, 8-1/2″, 9″ (Basically, you’re alternating 1″ and 1/2″ scores.)
With a pencil, make a little mark at the 4-1/2″ and 5-1/2″ scores at the top and bottom.
With the 5″ side at the top, make a little mark at 2″ and 3″ at the top and bottom.
Place your DSP in your paper cutter, line up the outside marks on each side, and trim as shown.
You’ll end up with a shape that’s a large Tailored Tag Punch shape.
With the DSP design you want to show facing up, begin at the 4-1/2″ mark and accordion fold to the left edge, beginning with a valley fold. Repeat for the other side, beginning with a valley fold at 5-1/2″ and accordion folding to the right edge. (You can, of course, start at 5-1/2″ and fold to the right, then go back to the 4-1/2″ score and fold left. Either way works.)
Your “curtain” should meet nicely in the center. You can add a little adhesive to hold the pleats down. Only add adhesive on the 1/2″ panels. Then adhere the curtain to your card.
To add a little more stability to the curtain, cover the center with a 1-1/4″ x 4″ Garden Green banner. After stamping Smile from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set on Whisper White Cardstock, punch with the Story Label Punch and add to the card over the banner.
I thought this card was finished, but it still seemed to need something. I love the yellow peeking out from behind the curtain, so I wanted to bring it out a little more. I stamped two medium daisies from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight ink on So Saffron Cardstock. After punching with the Medium Daisy Punch, I cut the petals in half, then layered and added a Designer Element (from the Pressed Petals Suite) to the center. I stamped a leaf from the Floral Essence Stamp Set (Garden Green ink – stamped off one time – on Mint Macaron Cardstock) and punched with the Leaf Punch.
Here’s one more look.
Now, for a really big smile, head over to Jackie’s and Susan’s blogs to see what they’ve created for you. I can’t wait to see their folds!

Thanks, Jackie! I’m glad I added the daisy. It was really blah without it.
