Daisy, Daisy

I am totally loving the Daisy Lane Bundle from Stampin’ Up!® It’s so versatile and fun.

Since Mike & I were taking care of making sure all his mom’s bills were paid for the past several years, we changed her address to our house to make sure we received everything. One thing I noticed when I took over her checkbook was that she donated to a lot of charities. It wasn’t a lot of money to each one, but everyone who asked got something. What a generous heart she had.

Some of the charities she gave to send greetings cards with another request for money. I received a pack of four cards the other day, and one was gorgeous! It inspired me to make this.

Stampin' Up!, Daisy Lane, Beauty Abounds

I used the Daisy Lane Stamp Set and Medium Daisy Punch to create the flowers. I inked the daisies with Purple Posy (I know this isn’t available yet, but I just had to use it. I’m sorry.), Coastal Cabana, and Soft Sea Spray Classic Ink, then added some shading with Stampin’ Blends (Purple Posy) and Stampin’ Write Markers (Pacific Point). I loved the way they turned out!

After I stamped them, I punched the daisies with the Medium Daisy Punch and layered three of each together. On a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, I stamped the stem in Garden Green and the fern in Granny Apple Green.

I added the daisies into the greenery, then added some 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dots to the centers. The final touch was to add a couple of butterflies from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set and Butterfly Beauty Dies.

I used a little piece of the Purple Posy Gingham design from the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack (DSP), then layered it to a Bermuda Bay card base. I just needed something else, though, on the side of the DSP. Maybe some ribbon?

Sadly, I don’t have any of the new In Color ribbons yet, so I decided to color a piece of the Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon with a Purple Posy Stampin’ Blend. Gorgeous! I love the little sparkle from the metallic edge.

The sentiment is from the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set, stamped in Purple Posy on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners.

This is just so stinking lovely Buffy. I would not have thought to put the little butterfly at that angle, but it is perfect. So neat to get inspiration from all those charity cards that you don’t know what to do with!!

My mom donated to many charities too. Sadly, most of them are scams. You donate a bit and get something in return. Cards, calculators, t-shirts, thin fleece blankets, sometimes a dollar bill. Not many of them donate more than 15% to the actual charity. My brother took over my mom’s mailing to wrap up any bills. 7 years later he is still getting requests for money. Good luck with your task.

Thanks, Mary! Yes, she has gotten a lot of blankets, calculators, greeting cards, and note pads. Sad, especially when the charity usually doesn’t get a lot of money. Thankfully, she didn’t give much to any, but overall…I can only give her credit that she was so good hearted (but she was scammed two times with big ticket things that we had to clear up). I hate that people prey on the elderly.

I missed the news about Mike’s mother – so sorry for your loss! She sounds like she was a very special person. Your card is gorgeous! When I first saw this stamp set at OnStage, I wasn’t very excited about it – but I have used it way more than my other daisy set.

Thanks, Gail! She was a sweetheart. I agree with Daisy Lane. I was like, “meh,” when I got it, but now…I keep thinking, “what was that other daisy set that I loved so much?” Ok, I still love it, but I don’t use it as much.
