One More Sparkly Unicorn

Little did I know when I ordered the Leave a Little Sparkle Stamp Set from the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog for Amelia that I would be the one using it most of the time. It’s really fun to use, especially when it’s paired with Pigment Sprinkles.

This was for another swap I participated in. Holly Obier, my friend Christy’s upline, adopted me into her group since I don’t have an active direct upline. I usually use floral or beach stamps for swaps, but I wanted to challenge myself a little, so I chose Leave a Little Sparkle. I was a little intimidated, because this group is amazing! Every time I swap with them, I am blown away by their talent.

For this card, I pulled out my Pigment Sprinkles again. I was inspired by this song. (Warning: Do not click on that link if you don’t want the song in your head for a few days.) I wanted to do a kind of rainbow-ish background, even though the unicorn isn’t very fluffy.

I sprinkled some Melon Mambo Pigment Sprinkles on an acrylic stamp block, then spritzed with a little water. I used the stamp block as a stamp pad to ink the swirl image, then stamped on Shimmer White Cardstock. I cleaned the block and stamp, then repeated with Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana Sprinkles.

After I stamped the unicorn image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I added some glitter to the card. I mixed a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue with a tiny bit of water, then splattered it onto the front of the card with a paintbrush, trying to keep it around the “rainbow,” not the unicorn. (Yes. Yes you can use an Aqua Painter and it works very well. However, after doing this several times, my Aqua Painter closed up and refused to work. I don’t know if it’s just a tired Aqua Painter, or if it was the glue, but I’m not taking chances. I used an old paintbrush. You can also use your fingers.) Then I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter over the glue.

I colored the mane and tail with Dark Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends and the horn with Light Bermuda Bay. I added a little Clear Wink of Stella to the hort, because you can never have too much sparkle. The hooves, of course, are Light Basic Black Stampin’ Blends.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the tag. I inked the sentiment in Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Markers. Since I used my Stamparatus, I inked each set of words with the marker, then stamped as many times as I needed to get a good image. Then I added the second color, and then the third. I punched with the Story Label Punch, then dipped the edges of the tag in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

The final sparkle comes from the Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I love using jewels on my cards, especially when I want some extra sparkle!
