Favorite New Stamp Set

Favorite New Stamp Set

Welcome to another Friday Stamp Off with Susan, Jackie & me. This week, we’re showing off our favorite new stamp set from the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.

This was an easy one for me. My favorite new set is Sailing Home. (You may have already guessed that since it has figured very prominently in my blogs lately!)

Come Sail Away, Stampin' Up!

Mike and I love the water and his favorite color is blue, so the Sailing Home Bundle from the Come Sail Away Suite was one of my first purchases. Actually, I ordered everything in the suite except the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder, and that’s only because it wasn’t available on the Product Purchase Premier after OnStage in April.

For this card, I used a little retired Designer Series Paper (DSP). I made this card before the paper retired, and I had forgotten that by the time this post launched, it would be gone. However the Sailing Home DSP has designs that would work perfectly with this card. Or, you can simply stamp on Balmy Blue Cardstock using a background or textured stamp with Whisper White Craft Ink. (Be sure to give it a few minutes to dry before you add other elements. You can also use your heat tool to speed up the drying process.)

Stamp the birds from the Sailing Home Stamp Set in Basic Gray ink on the DSP. Then layer the DSP to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Night of Navy Cardstock, then to a Balmy Blue card base.

Stamp the sentiment in Whisper White Craft Ink on  a 1-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Night of Navy Cardstock and emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (This would be lovely with Shimmer White Stampin’ Emboss Powder! Did you notice that and the Shimmer Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the new catalog? So excited!) Layer the embossed panel to the card.

On Whisper White Cardstock, stamp the smaller sailboat in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Color the boat with Balmy Blue and Soft Suede Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends, and the Ivory Stampin’ Blend Marker, then diecut with the coordinating Smooth Sailing Die. Stamp the compass using Night of Navy Classic Ink on Whisper White cardstock, then punch with the 1-1/2″ Circle Punch. Die-cut the magnetic needles from Silver Foil. Stack them and add to the compass. (You probably only need one needle, but I really like the way they look stacked. It looked a little incomplete with only one.)

Color a Rhinestone Basic Jewel with a Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend, then add it to the center of the magnetic needles. Add the compass and sailboat to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Of course this card is for my Mike. I tend to get distracted by silly things that don’t matter, and he keeps me grounded and focused on what’s important. Love that guy.

Please head over to Jackie’s and Susan’s blogs to see their favorite new stamp sets. I have a hunch or two about what they’ll use, but you never know. Often two out of the three of us use the same set, or the same colors, or the same design idea. We’ll see if that happens this week.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

This is my favorite stamp set with dies too. It just seems so calming and peaceful. That DSP looks perfect with it. Too bad it retired. I would get it if I could!

I love this whole suite (obviously!!). I’m doing better at using my DSP, but totally forgot this one was going to retire before it posted. (That’s what happens when I schedule three weeks early!)

Buffy, I almost used this set, but the little UPS guy fought aggressively for my affections. This is a beautiful card and I love the arrangement of all of the elements. It is such a wonderful masculine card.

My favorite set too. I used to sail, and when I saw the sailboats it reminded me of those wonderful days. And what a set for guy cards! I’ve used it several times already, and my coordinating paper is almost half gone already!! Your card is super, and that retired paper is perfect.
