Rooted in Nature Note Card

Rooted in Nature Note Card

If you’re a Stampin’ Up!® fan, you probably know by now that the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set will be retiring June 3. I’m a little sad, because it’s been with Stampin’ Up!® longer than I have. At the same time, though, we have some lovely new tree stamp sets that will fill the huge gap that Lovely as a Tree will leave. Winter Woods (and the coordinating In the Woods Dies) is carrying over from the 2018 Holiday Catalog, and Rooted in Nature (and the coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies) will be returning for at least another year as well.

I used the Rooted in Nature Bundle for this card. (Important Note: While the stamp set and dies are returning, the bundle – and the 10% bundle discount – will be ending June 3. You can still purchase the products separately, but you’ll miss the discount. Order before June 3 to save money!)

This is a fun little note card we made in classes this month. Besides showcasing the Rooted in Nature Bundle, everyone got to try a simple Watercoloring with Stampin’ Write Markers and the Stamparatus Technique. (You can watch my video tutorial here.)

First, place a piece of Watercolor Paper in the Stamparatus, position the stamp on the paper, then close the plate to adhere the stamp. Then simply color the leaves with a Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Marker. You don’t have to be super careful; you’re going to go over it several times. Before closing the plate to stamp, spritz a little water on the image using a Stampin’ Spritzer. If you spritz too much, it’s ok. Just keep stamping! (Now I have Dory’s song in my head from Finding Nemo.)

Keep adding ink and stamping until you’re happy with the leaves, then continue with the trunk using a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker. For this sample, I used an Aqua Painter to blend the colors just a bit. And then I stamped once more. After it dries, die cut the image with the coordinating die from the Nature’s Roots Dies.

Cut the leaves from Copper Foil using the open leaves die from the Nature’s Roots Dies. Put the diecut leaves back into your die-cutting machine with the leaves that emboss only to get the beautiful textured leaves.

Add a 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper (DSP – retiring June 3) to the front of a Whisper White Note Card. Add the tree and leaves. Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then “fussy cut” (i.e. “use Paper Snips to cut out the words”) and add them to the card.

If there are retiring products in the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog that you love (like stamps, dies, bundles, DSP, ribbon, or embellishments), be sure to order now before supplies run out!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

I will miss Lovely As A Tree but Rooted in Nature is even better because it has the dies. I love the added copper leaves. Very pretty!

I agree that LAAT’s time has come; so many nice new trees with dies to play with! I like your easy watercolour technique – the tree looks lovely! (oops – no pun intended!)
