Coming, Going, and Coming Back: A Mother’s Day Challenge

Coming, Going, and Coming Back: A Mother’s Day Challenge

Welcome to another Stamp-Off Friday! I realize that “Coming, Going, and Coming Back” is a weird title for a Mother’s Day challenge card. It was mostly to illustrate the Stampin’ Up!® products I used (some new, some retiring, some returning), but I realized it does reflect a mother’s life sometimes. Your kids are born, grow up, move away, and sometimes move back. I did; my kids did; lots of my friends’ kids did. Maybe they’re in a waiting period between rentals; the house they’re building isn’t quite finished; they graduated from college and are job hunting. Whatever the reason, they are always welcomed back with open arms and the bittersweet knowledge that soon they’ll be on their own again. You’re happy, because that’s what you raised them to do, but it’s still a little sad to see them go.

Fortunately, I can hang on to any retiring craft products I love. I don’t keep many, but there are some that I can’t let go of. I used some of my favorite new, retiring, and returning products on this card.

Stampin' Up!, Beauty Abounds, Tea Together, Artisan Textures, Perennial Essence

I stamped the flower outline from the Floral Essence Stamp Set (available June 4) on Powder Pink Cardstock using Berry Burst Classic Ink. (Both of these products will be retiring soon, so order now if you love the 2017-2019 In Colors.) I used an Aqua Painter to pull the ink into the petals, then added a Perennial Essence Floral Center. You’re going to love these! I stamped the leaves from Floral Essence in Mossy Meadow Classic Ink on Old Olive Cardstock, then punched with the returning Leaf Punch. The Perennial Flower Punch that coordinates with this stamp set doesn’t punch this particular image, so I fussy cut it with Paper Snips.

I stamped images from the Artisan Textures and Beauty Abounds Stamp Sets (both are returning to the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog) on Whisper White Cardstock using Powder Pink, Mossy Meadow, and Berry Burst Classic Ink, then added it to a Mossy Meadow Cardstock layer and a Berry Burst card base. (Note: The Berry Burst splatters and Mossy Meadow bokeh dots were stamped off once before stamping on the Whisper White Cardstock.)

I absolutely love the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). I still have quite a bit, because I tend to hoard what I love, not share it. I added a 2″ x 5″ strip to Whisper White layer, but I needed more. The rose seemed a little sad just sitting there. Aha – Pearlized Doilies! I colored one with the Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend, then added it and the flower/leaves to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from the Tea Together Stamp Set, is stamped on Powder Pink Cardstock in Berry Burst ink and punched with the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch.

So here’s a recap of what’s coming, what’s going, and what’s returning.
