A Good Man

A Good Man

When I saw the Stampin’ Up!® 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, I knew I wanted the “A Good Man” Stamp Set. The images are so sweet. There’s a dad holding his little girl (and that reminds me of Wesley & Amelia) and a dad with a little boy on his shoulders (which reminds me of Mike & Jon or Wes). And then there was this.

A Good Man, Stampin' Up!, Waterfront

This is Mike on vacation (except for the hat; Mike wears a baseball hat). This is his idea of relaxation, and I can’t wait until we hit the beach again.

To create this card, I stamped the water image from the Waterfront Stamp Set multiple times in Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, and Bermuda Bay on Whisper White Cardstock. It’s a little too “stripe-y” for me, so I’m going to work on the water a bit. I used Balmy Blue Classic Ink to add a little sky. Then, finally, I added the birds in Basic Gray and the Sun in Pineapple Punch Classic Ink. All of those stamps are from the Waterfront Stamp Set except the birds. I happened to have another new stamp set, Sailing Home, on my table while I was creating this card, and the birds came from that set.

For the guy – I stamped the image on Whisper White Cardstock with Versamark Ink, then embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, and Ivory Stampin’ Blends to color the image, then fussy cut it with Paper Snips. Then I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White in Bermuda Bay.

I used a Tic Tac Toe Challenge to create this card. Here’s the board.

I chose the bottom left to top right diagonal, but I also added water, summer, and embellishment. For the embellishment, I added some Heart Epoxy Droplets. You know how you take a picture at the pool or at the beach and little drops of water get on the camera/cell phone lens? That’s what I wanted to replicate. I love the epoxy droplets, because they’re so subtle, but then you can color them with Stampin’ Blends and they aren’t so subtle! They are very versatile, and I’m happy to see that they’re in the new catalog!

This card is dedicated to all the good men in my life – my absolutely wonderful husband, my amazing dad, my incredible sons, my older brother (who picked on me unmercifully in our childhood, but was still one of my first heroes and a very good man), my younger brother who passed away 13 years ago but always thought I was perfect and loved me unconditionally, and left a huge hole in my heart when he died, nephews and cousins that I’m so proud of, uncles who have always “been there” when Dad, Mike or the boys couldn’t, and so many friends.

Today, though, this card is perfect for Mike. I played the piano for the Easter service at my parents’ church this morning, so while I was gone, Mike cooked everything for dinner. He did an amazing job and everything was delicious. (Disclaimer: My mom cooked green beans and baked a coconut cake, and I set the table and poured water. Mike did everything else.) He’s much better at cooking than I am. So he deserves to relax!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Buffy, this is a brilliant, beautiful card. The sea and sky are both so compelling. Great job.

I have the background stamp set but couldn’t find a Goodman stamp set. I looked in the catalog and on line. You didn’t list in supplies. Is it possible that you use a set other than stampin up?
