Needle & Thread

Needle & Thread

When I was little, my mom and grandmothers, most of my aunts, and some of my cousins all sewed. They tried to teach me to sew. First it was straight stitches across fabric, then hems. The first really usable item I made was a scarf I made in 4-H. Years later, I could sew fairly well, but I wasn’t a master like some of the others in my family. Zippers and button holes always threw me, and the first mistake that had to be picked out usually stopped all progress on whatever I was making.

Even though I wasn’t the best “seamstress,” I do like the Needlepoint Nook Suite in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Occasions Catalog.

Needle & Thread, Stampin' Up!, Needlepoint Nook

This card is super easy. I simply layered some Berry Burst and Whisper White Card stock with some Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper (DSP), and added some Crushed Curry and Highland Heather butterflies from the Needle & Thread Stamp Set. The Tranquil Tide sentiment and die-cut are also from the Needlepoint Nook Suite.

Here are the measurements for the card:
Whisper White – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″ to form a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card base; 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″; scrap large enough to die-cut sentiment
Berry Burst – 3-3/4″ x 5″, 2″ x 4-1/2″
DSP – 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″

To make this card even easier, I didn’t tie the Berry Burst Metallic Edge Ribbon. I simply looped it under the sentiment.

Just a reminder, Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst, along with Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, and Powder Pink are 2017-2019 In Colors. That means they’ll be retiring with our current Annual Catalog (June 3 or while supplies last – whichever comes first). So if you love any of those colors, or any products with those colors in them – DSP, ink, ink refills, card stock, ribbon, embellishments, you’d better order them now before they’re gone. The products used on the card today (except for Whisper White Cardstock and the Highland Heather and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Pads) are also retiring. You can see the entire retiring list here. Please note: Many of the stamps that look like they’re retiring really aren’t, so please contact me before you order any “retiring” stamp sets! All of the Wood-mount and Clear-mount rubber are being converted to Cling Rubber stamps, so while the style is retiring the stamps aren’t. And current bundles are also retiring, but the individual components might not be. (Bundled prices only last for one catalog.)

I think the combination of flowers, butterflies, and the sentiment make this a very cheery card. And since the DSP does most of the work, it was very quick to put together. My Product Purchase Premiere order came today with new products from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, so I spent most of the day playing with some new stuff. Here’s a sneak peek of the new 2019-2021 In Colors.

Stampin' Up!, 2019-2021 In Colors

The colors are (top to bottom) Terracotta Tile, Seaside Spray, Purple Posy, Rococo Rose, and Pretty Peacock. If you’re an “old timer” with Stampn’ Up!, the Purple Posy reminds me a little of our old Pale Plum or Almost Amethyst (depending on the card stock run; it got lighter over time). The Seaside Spray is a little like our old Bashful Blue. The Terracotta Tile and Pretty Peacock are gorgeous together, but since they were the two boldest colors, I separated them a bit for balance. And the Rococo Rose is a nice vintage pink (and it also works well with the Pretty Peacock, doesn’t it?). The Terracotta Tile is very close to the Pantone Color of the Year, so it’s right on trend! These colors will be in the new Annual Catalog, and you can order from it beginning June 4.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
