Fable Friends and Retiring Friends

Fable Friends and Retiring Friends

It’s April 16, and that means it’s time for the Stampin’ Up!® Retiring Products List. It’s a sad time for demonstrators, because we lose some of our favorite stamp sets and other products. Of course we can still use the sets for personal use, but we don’t want to use them on blogs. Why tempt you with products you can’t buy, right? But if you’re not a demonstrator, this is the perfect time to snatch up those stamp sets and products you’ve been waiting to buy. And if you’ve been waiting to order a bundle, get it now! Because while stamp sets, dies, and punches may return to the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, bundled prices will not. Bundles are only available during the catalog sales period in which they first appear.

Here’s where you can see what’s retiring – stamp sets, bundles, and everything else. Now, before you panic about some of them, the Stampin’ Up!® team that prepared the retiring list forgot to add the “asterisks” for stamp sets that will be returning, but in the “Cling” configuration. Remember, all rubber sets from now on will be cling mount except for background stamps in the US. They will still be offered in wood-mount as well as cling-mount. Here are the retiring products.

Now – here’s a returning set from the Occasions Catalog that I’ve been wanting since I first saw it. But there were others that I needed more, so I kept putting it off. I’m so glad this carried over and will be in the Stampin’ Up!® 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Fable Friends, Stampin' Up!, Daisy DelightFable Friends is one of my favorite sets, even though I just got it. I know I’m going to be using it a lot in the coming year.

First, I stamped the squirrel image from the Fable Friends Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, then diecut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

I’ve been reading that lots of people use Memento Ink to watercolor, and the Memento Ink Pad actually says you can watercolor with it after it dries. (I’m taking peoples’ word on this; the print is tiny and I can’t read it.) So after I heat set the ink with my Stampin’ Up!® Heat Tool, I scribbled on our Acrylic Blocks with Smoky Slate, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers. I picked up the ink with a Blender Pen and colored the image. If you don’t have all the markers and only want to buy one or two sets, you can use Granny Apple Green instead of Pear Pizzazz so you only need Neutrals and Brights Stampin’ Write Marker sets. I stamped some of the grass using an Old Olive Classic Stampin’ Pad. (If you use Granny Apple Green to color the leaves, use that to stamp the grass as well.) Layer the die-cut image to a slightly larger layer of a Pacific Point design of the Brights Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Stamp the large daisy image from the Delightful Daisy Stamp Set (which is carrying over!) two times on Daffodil Delight Cardstock using a Smoky Slate Classic Ink Pad. Punch with the Daisy Punch and adhere the two images together. Stamp the flower center using a Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, then punch with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhere to the center of the daisy.

Stamp the Sentiment from the Fable Friends Stamp Set in Basic Gray Classic Ink on the top of a Daffodil Delight card base, then adhere the stamped image and daisy as shown.

I love this little squirrel. We have so many squirrels in our backyard, and although none wear sailor suits, they’re still really cute. They’re really the only rodents that I can watch without going “ewwwwwww!”

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Have a lovely day.

Funny. I saw a squirrel with a sailor suit on the other day. He looked just like this! Very cute card!

Very cute card, Buffy! I think I’d be heading for the doctor’s office if I saw a squirrel in a sailor suit! LOL
