Just Resist
My apologies if you were expecting a political post. We have an unspoken rule in my craft groups: No political talk allowed! Craft time is our stress release, and political conversations can be stressful at times, so we try to keep them at a bare minimum. The resist I’m talking about is a technique.
When I first heard about this technique, it was called “Ghosting,” I believe, but it’s really a basic resist technique. Stamp an image on Glossy White Cardstock using Versamark Ink, let the ink dry well, then add one of our Stampin’ Up! classic colors over top. It’s fun, easy, and a lot like the “Magic Pictures” we had when I was younger. (Am I showing my age here? The pages looked blank, but you’d rub over them with a pencil and pictures would magically appear.)
Here’s my card using the Resist Technique and the Wonderful Moments and Floral Phrases Stamp Sets.
I used Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink and a Sponge Brayer to color the Glossy White Cardstock. Then I stamped the image from Wonderful Moments in Jet Black Stazon Ink. The sentiment from Floral Phrases is heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. When I finish the card I started in the video, I’ll emboss the image as well. I think that looks much better.
Here’s my video showing the technique. We had some challenges this weekend (nothing bad, just things that derailed some plans), so I was later filming than usual and I got a little glare from outside. Plus, Glossy White Cardstock is a little reflective! I showed this to Mike, and he said it would be ok this one time. 🙂
Give this technique a try – or a “retry.” It’s another fun and easy one!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

I love that you are showing all these techniques in your videos. I have never done this one so I am anxious to try. Your card turned out beautiful!

Thanks, Susan! It’s so fun – and really easy. It’s supposed to also work on Whisper White, but I didn’t get good results with that. Glossy card stock is the best!

I don’t think I’ve ever done this resist, without adding the embossing powder on top of the Versamark! The image shows up beautifully – a gorgeous card, Buffy!

Thanks, Deborah. It does work very well on glossy without having to emboss.
