Easy Double Time Stamping

Happy Monday, Stamping Friends! I have a video for you today. It’s another older technique that I’ve simplified a bit.

There’s a technique called Triple Time Stamping. Basically, you cut three pieces of card stock (graduated in size), stamp on all three at the same time, then mat with a coordinating card stock. It makes a lovely background. Here’s a card I did with that technique many years ago.

Instead of stamping the background, I used a piece of the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper (DSP). Today’s card is Double Time, not Triple, and it uses less paper. Here’s a look at the card.

Details & Measurements

I cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of the Needlepoint Nook DSP. Then I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut a 1-3/4″ x 3″ piece from the center. I had planned to cut a 2-3/4″ x 4″ piece as well, but I decided to keep it a little simpler.

Cutting the centers from the larger piece of DSP lets you use less paper and have less bulk. It’s a win/win!

Next, it was time for the Night of Navy Cardstock layers. I started with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of card stock. Instead of using my Stampin’ Trimmer, I had a great idea! Why not use the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies? I used a framelit a little larger than my smaller DSP layer and diecut the rectangle from the center of the Night of Navy Cardstock. Easy! Mine shifted a bit in the Big Shot, but that’s ok; it’s going to be covered up.

Using the Story Label Punch, I punched a label from Whisper White Cardstock. I put the negative back into my Stamparatus (and if you watch the video, please be assured that I do know the difference between a Stamparatus and a Big Shot), then added the label back in. I placed my stamp from the More than Words Stamp Set where I wanted it on the label, closed the plate to adhere the stamp and inked with Balmy Blue Classic Ink. I stamped it several times to get it a little darker. I already had a Night of Navy thanks die-cut from the Well-Written Framelits Dies, so I added that over the sentiment. (The inside sentiment is when I have a friend as amazing as you.)

I punched an extra Night of Navy Story Label, then cut it in half lengthwise (not like I did in the video. I changed my mind about that), then added it to the back of the stamped label, stretching it a bit to create a background layer for the punch.

After I adhered everything together, I added it to a Balmy Blue Card Base.
