“Watercolor Spread” Technique

“Watercolor Spread” Technique

I can’t believe it’s Monday already! This weekend flew by (maybe because we lost an hour).

I got my laptop to talk to my phone this week. YAY! It took a long time to finally get this all working, so even with Daylight Savings Time, it got dark before I filmed. There are some shadows in the video, but you can still see what I’m doing. Sorry! I will get better at this!

Here’s the card that I created with the technique.

Stampin' Up!, Beautiful Day

I used the Beautiful Day Stamp Set from the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. This technique is not new; I learned about it in 2009 from Sharon Rogers, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Maine.

This is a perfect technique if you’re not a fan of watercoloring. It’s fun and super easy. For this card, I stamped the flower in VersaMark and embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, but you can use any powder. I did one in silver (loved it!), and the one in the video is inked with Stampin’ Write Markers then embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (Love that Stamparatus!)

Best of all, after you have your image embossed, you only need a few supplies – Aqua Painters, Stampin’ Spritzer, and Ink Refills. As you’ll see in the video, I use my Classic Stampin’ Pads as palettes, because then I don’t waste ink if I don’t use it all.

Here’s the video.

Hope you enjoyed it – even with the silly shadows. I’m learning!

Don’t forget there are only a couple more weeks of Sale-a-bration! Lots of products are already gone; I think we only have stampers from the first release products. The second release items are still available, and, of course, the third release items are catalog products! (Pizza boxes, embellishments, paper, and more!) Here they are.
Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-bration

If you order online, be sure you use the numbers in the flier above if you want the catalog items. If you enter catalog numbers, you’ll be charged, and we don’t want that.

And here are the second release products.

Note that you can earn the Painted Seasons Stamp Set and Designer Series Paper (DSP) together as a bundle with a $100 order, or you can earn the DSP separately with a $50 order. You’ll love the paper so much (and it coordinates with the Painted Seasons Stamp Set as well as sets in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual and Occasions Catalogs!) you’ll want a second pack.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Gorgeous card! I remember doing this with the ink refills; I think we called it ‘floating reinkers’ back then! Fun & easy to do, but with a gorgeous result 🙂
