Humming Along
A group of my friends and I have been participating in a monthly swap. It’s so fun to get cards in the mail all month long! Here’s my card for February.
I used the Humming Along Stamp Set from the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog. I stamped the flower on a 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, the colored it with Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. And then I fussy cut the flower using Paper Snips.
I know what you’re thinking. Why on earth would I fussy cut this image when there are dies that coordinate with the stamps? When I attended Stampin’ Up!® OnStage Live in Orlando in November, Humming Along is one of the stamp sets we were given. I can’t remember if everyone got it or if it was a Prize Patrol for a group with the same prize badge, but I was happy to get the set! However, we didn’t get the coordinating Hummingbird Framelits Dies and there are a lot of other sets I wanted first (and I’m trying to be a responsible business owner and not buy more than I can use.). But the framelits are lovely and have “extra” pieces that are amazing. My next order should have some Stampin’ Rewards to redeem, and this would be a good thing to have!
Next, I cut two 3″ x 5-1/4″ pieces of Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) on a diagonal. I kind of forgot to flip the second piece every time, so some of the cards ended up with more of a “megaphone” than a diagonal space in the middle. Oops. But on this card, I got it right! Because I flipped the second piece, I could use one side for the top and the other side for the bottom of the card, adhering them to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I made sure I left plenty of room to stamp the sentiment (from the Friendly Expressions Stamp Set in the Annual Catalog) in Coastal Cabana Classic Ink. Then I added the flower to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note: Depending on how much room you need for the sentiment, you may need to trim your DSP a bit.
It seemed to need a little something, so I dotted over the “happy” and parts of the flower with Fine-Tip Glue, then added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. You can see how I did that here.
Big news – Stampin’ Up!® has a Third Release of Sale-a-bration products today! One is the Painted Seasons DSP (you can now get it with a $50 order without the Painted Seasons Stamp Set, as well as a bundle with the stamp set for a $100 order); others are products from the Stampin’ Up!® 2018-19 Annual Catalog (ribbon, embellishments, and more). I’ll edit this post once the flyer has “gone live!”
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

You don’t need the dies when you can fussy cut so well. I, on the other hand, would need the dies! I love how you put glitter on the sentiment.

Thanks, Susan! I LOVE Dazzling Diamonds. Stella is nice, but she’s not Dazzling enough for me!! (And, you’re funny! I’ve seen your fussy cutting. It’s lovely.)

Thanks, Deborah! I can’t wait for spring. I’ve had enough ice, snow, cold, and mud.
