Home To Roost “Retweet”

Home To Roost “Retweet”

I decided to redo my Home To Roost card from yesterday and make it a little more simple and cost effective for new stampers. (You can see the original here.)

I used the Stampin’ Up!® Stampin’ Blends to color the card yesterday. For today, I used Watercolor Pencils. I think a good “starter kit” for a new stamper includes a black solvent based ink pad (like Stāzon), Watercolor Pencils, Whisper White or Very Vanilla Cardstock, a color collection of cardstock (like Neutrals), and a few Classic Stampin’ Pads. Oh, and of course a stamp set or three with images and sentiments.

Here’s my #simplestamping rooster redo.

Home To Roost, Stampin' Up!

First, I stamped the rooster and the sentiment from the Home To Roost (free Sale-a-bration) Stamp Set in Jet Black StãzOn Ink on Watercolor Paper. Then I colored the rooster with Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils. I used an Aqua Painter to blend the colors a bit, but you can use a Blender Pen, or even a paint brush and water. If you prefer, you can simply color the image without blending. The pencils are very simple to use.

Instead of Real Red, I used Merry Merlot for the layer under the Watercolor Paper. Since Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake are both in the Neutral Color Collection, it reduces the amount of paper you have to purchase and you have all the neutrals colors to use on future cards.

Finally, I stamped the grass on the Crumb Cake card base using VersaMark ink. It adds a subtle tone and you can use it on any color card stock to get a tone-on-tone look.

If you purchase the supplies used for this card, you’ll earn a free Level 1 Sale-a-bration product. And, of course, you’ll have paper, ink, and Watercolor Pencils to use on your next projects!

Be sure to check in tomorrow for the Valentine Edition of our Friday challenges. I can’t wait to see Jackie’s and Susan’s cards.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
