So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!

I was sold on this set at OnStage Live in November. The demonstrator who showcased this set had a super cute card with the two single frogs (not the one on the bike) stamped together as a kind of wedding or anniversary card. They were very close together, and, well, her placement was a bit suggestive. It wasn’t something you’d really notice unless you were watching it on the jumbotron with about 6000 other sleep deprived (and slightly dirty-minded) demonstrators. She was such a wonderful sport, though, and I’m sure this set ended up on a lot of wish lists because of her.

I decided to be a little less, um, touchy-feely  with my card.

So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-bration

I love this sentiment for an encouragement card, don’t you? Here are the details for the card.

Two Techniques and an Extra Stamp Set

First, I stamped the frogs on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I stamped far enough apart that I could use a Layering Oval for the unicycle frog.

I used Granny Apple Green, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends to color the images. Then, I laid the Stitched Shapes oval over the unicycle frog and lightly traced around the bottom of the die. I cut out the wheel that fell outside the oval, then pulled that to the outside of the die so I could die-cut without cutting off the wheel. (See the Out of the Box Technique for detailed instructions.) I fussy cut the second frog with my Paper Snips.

I wanted a lily pad look for the background, so I stamped the bokeh images from the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog using Granny Apple Green ink on Granny Apple Green Cardstock. (Just a note – If you purchase the Beauty Abounds bundle – the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set and coordinating Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies – you will be able to order the So Hoppy Together, or any other Level 1 product from the Sale-a-bration Brochure, free!)

The second technique I used was heat embossing. I colored a Pearlized Doily on the plain side with Granny Apple Green ink. You can use Stampin’ Sponges or a Sponge Brayer. I simply pressed the doily into the ink pad until I got the coverage I wanted.

It still looked a little drab, so I quickly sprinkled on some Clear Embossing Powder mixed with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter. The ink on the doily was still wet enough to hold the powder while I heated it. Here’s a caution, though…The pearlized part will melt and peel off if you heat too long. It’s ok, though. Simply peel it off and keep going.

The final step (besides putting it all together) was to stamp the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. I snipped it so I could spread it out a little.

My card layers are (top to bottom) – Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, and a Pumpkin Pie card base.

So there you go. I have several people in mind that I’d like to send this card to. They’re all amazing, but don’t realize it, so maybe this will help them believe it!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
