True Love

Here’s the make & take we made for our Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator team meeting last week.

Stampin' Up!, Nine Lives, Happy Tails, Butterfly Gala

With the Stamparatus and punches, this card is super easy to make. Here are the details.

First, mask the bottom of the Whisper White Cardstock with the brick wall pattern from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and sponge with a Gray Granite Classic Stampin’ Pad and a Stampin’ Sponge. The top mask is retired; I didn’t realize that until I had made the card. You can make your own with cardstock or a window sheet and punches or Layering Circles Framelits. Or, you can ink the Polka Dot Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Gray Granite Classic Ink, insert the cardstock (be sure you’re only “stamping” on the top!”, then run it through the Big Shot. Or, of course, you can leave it blank, or use another mask – like the clouds.

It’s ok if the sponged areas overlap, because you’re going to cover the center of the card with a strip of Poppy Parade Cardstock. Before you adhere it, stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Punch the cat with the Cat Punch, then punch the dog and the hearts with the Dog Builder Punch. Insert the negative from the punched pieces into the Stamparatus, place the stamp into the negative, then close the plate to adhere the stamps to the Stamparatus plate. Insert the punched pieces. then stamp the dog outline from the Happy Tails Stamp Set (from the upcoming 2019 Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog) and the cat outline from the Nine Lives Stamp Set (also from the upcoming Occasions Catalog) using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. (Note: The cat punch is in the current Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog, but you’ll be able to bundle the Happy Tails set and Dog Builder Punch during the Occasions Catalog Sales Period – January 3 through June 3, 2019 – and save 10%.)

Switch the dog outline stamp to the spotted image, and stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento. For the cat, insert the calico image, then ink with Mango Melody. Use an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to add a little extra color on some of the spots. The cat’s bow and the dog’s collar are stamped in Poppy Parade Classic Ink.

You’ll need to punch two additional hearts with the Dog Builder Punch. Insert the hearts into the template in the Stamparatus and stamp the outline in Poppy Parade, then stamp the inside off one time before stamping into the heart. (You can also simply punch these from Poppy Parade Cardstock or stamp the full heart in Poppy Parade.)

Finally, stamp the butterfly from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set (another Occasions Catalog gem!) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then color with Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers. Punch the butterfly with the Butterfly Duet Punch, then stamp the center of the butterfly in Granny Apple Green Classic Ink. (Again, you can bundle the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set and the Butterfly Duet Punch to save 10%.)

Adhere all the punched pieces to the card front, and layer to a Gray Granite card base.

There are lots of steps to this card, but I wanted to showcase as many new stamp sets as I could to our demonstrator team. There are five new products (three stamp sets and two punches) that will be available in the Occasions Catalog beginning January 3. The Stamparatus, cardstock, cat punch, and ink are all available now.

I thought it was fun to use a sponge on a card with a cat. Mike and I have always had dogs, but we inherited a cat several years ago. Ashlynn can be so sweet, but that’s usually only in the early morning. The rest of the day she’s very independent and aloof. (Ok, she’s actually a bit psychotic, but we still love her.) We’ve bought her several toys to play with, but her favorite things are my Stampin’ Up!® sponges. If I forget to move them from my stamp table, she snags them and chews them, bats them around, and totally destroys them. I think they look like mice to her. (They’ve looked like mice to me a couple times in he early morning hours when I’m barely awake and don’t have my glasses on.) I have learned to keep anything spongy hidden away!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, Peggy! Since I already had the cat stamp, I had to get the Nine Lives set. But we’ve always had dogs, so Happy Tails had to go on the list as well. (Of course, Amelia would never have let me get away with only getting one set!)
