Butterfly Peeks
Wow – what a fun day I had yesterday! My final November Stamp Class was Wednesday morning. I always cut a little extra paper just in case someone shows up at the last minute. We make five cards at our classes, and because of my extras and a couple “no-shows,” I had enough supplies for the ladies to make two of everything today. I’m not sure they wanted to do double duty, but they did. And they did an amazing job. (Of course they did. This is my “advanced” group. I learn more from them than they do from me.)
Because I made them do double duty, it ran a bit longer than normal (but I did give them a lot of chocolate). So I didn’t have time to blog or stamp. But I do have a card. Apologies to any members of my swap group who see this before they get the card. It’s actually a tiny, tiny bit different than the card you’ll be receiving, though.
This is a sneak peek from the Stampin’ Up!® 2019 Occasions Catalog and 2019 Sale-a-bration Brochure.
The butterflies and sentiment are from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set in the Occasions Catalog. This set coordinates with the Butterfly Duet Punch, also in the Occasions Catalog. And you don’t have to line anything up. Most of the butterfly stamps are doubles – a large and a small – and they line up perfectly with the punch.
I made this card while we were gone last weekend, so it’s fairly simple, because I had limited supplies. I stamped the butterflies in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then colored them with Stampin’ Blends. I used Petal Pink, Highland Heather, and Calypso Coral for the large butterfly, and Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral for the smaller one. Then I punched with the Butterfly Duet Punch. After I finished the card, I realized I needed one more little butterfly, so I stamped it on scrap Whisper White, and punched and colored with Blends.
I’m trying to be a Clean and Simple Stamper, but I’m not quite there yet. I had to stamp the butterflies in Petal Pink Classic Ink on the Petal Pink card base so it wouldn’t be naked on the right side. It just needed something to balance the paper on the left side.
The Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper is a Sale-a-bration product. You can earn it free during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order. I have to say, it’s gorgeous! We are experiencing winter temps here (for a few days, anyway), so I love the spring paper. I added a skinny layer of the Highland Heather design of the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (love it! And we got it free for attending OnStage in Orlando). All that was left was to add the punched butterflies to the card with a sentiment in Lemon Lime Twist.
Now I just need to get these in the mail! I know you’re going to love the Occasions Catalog and the Sale-a-bration Brochure as much as I do!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
Love the butterflies- yes we need spring pictures as it is freezing!

Thanks, Peggy! I’m hoping using the spring products will make it seem warmer!

I don’t even know where to start with this comment. First of all, your card is beautiful. I love the colors you used as well as the design. Secondly, stop. You know I am not a fan of butterflies but your card is going to make me buy them. I have to admit the stamp set with the matching dies and this set with the matching punch are the prettiest butterfly sets I have seen yet. Third, why are you trying to be CAS. You make beautiful, messy, torn cards so why change? ❤️

You’re so funny. I was trying to figure out a way to have the betterflies swarm out of the card, but that might be a little too startling. And you and Jackie have inspired me to (try to) be more CAS – but my inner grunge does emerge still.

Ooohh – those new butterflies are beautiful! (I did think of Susan & her aversion to these flying beauties!) Lovely card, Buffy 🙂

Thanks, Deborah! I LOVE the paper and the stamps and punch. I need to start warning Susan before I post. Today would be a good day to send a warning….
