Life’s Good Things
Today is Mike’s and my 36th wedding anniversary. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have spent the past 36 years with. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather spend the next 36 years with, either! He’s amazing, my husband. He’s smart, funny, kind, brave, strong, talented, and… well, you get the idea. I kind of admire the guy a little.
Here’s the card I made for him.
I used Waterfront, a stamp set from the 2018-19 Annual Stampin’ Up!® catalog, for the Daffodil Delight sun. Waterfront is one of my very favorite sets. My sketch is from a swap I received, and I didn’t plan mine well. I wanted to use Night of Navy, because Mike’s favorite color is blue. I also decided on three designs in Gray Granite and Night of Navy from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper (DSP). So far so good.
I had wanted to have a beach scene, since Mike & I love the beach, but I decided that adding some Bermuda Bay or Pacific Point to the image for water would be weird, since those colors aren’t in the card otherwise. After trying Night of Navy for water, I opted for Adirondack chair instead. I love that die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. These coordinate with the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, also in the Annual Catalog.
So here is my fairly simple card. A sentiment, a sun, some DSP and die-cuts. The sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set that will be in the 2019 Occasions Catalog in January (December, if you’re a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator). And, of course, the ovals are from the Layering Ovals Framelits and Stitched Shapes Framelits sets.
You know you always see things after you finish a card. As I’m looking at it now, I’m thinking how fun it would have been to have the sentiment in a sunset. Then it could have been us at home by the pool, in the mountains, or at the beach. Because all times (and places) are better together than separately. Maybe that’s an idea for next year…
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
