Snowflake Challenge

I have the best team of Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators! They are all so creative and amazing. Most of them started as my customers, but decided they wanted to take the plunge and become demonstrators. While they, like me, signed up for the discount, most of them have held classes and workshops, and they’re awesome at it.

Every month, we get together for a meeting. We talk about business ideas, Stampin’ Up!® news, and we have a make & take and challenge. Rose’s make & take this month was amazing, and I’ll post it this week. But today’s post is about the challenge.

I forgot to take pictures of all the challenge projects, but they were all super awesome. The challenge was to use Embossing Paste, Brusho, or Shimmer Paint. Sandy, Liz, and I all used the embossing paste. Sandy also used Shimmer Paint, but she’s an overachiever.

This is my card.

It didn’t photograph well, but I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste. I covered a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock with Shimmery White Embossing Paste. After it dried, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Blizzard Thinlits Die* and the Big Shot Embossing Mats to emboss snowflakes into the glittered paper. It’s very shimmery and icy in real life. (I think our weather last week inspired this card. We had ice and snow last Thursday. Of course, this is Virginia, so it’s mostly gone now. With temps in the upper 40s to lower 50s the next few days, it should be totally gone by Thanksgiving.)

I die-cut Merry from Night of Navy Cardstock using the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies*. I also die-cut the frame using the same dies, then stamped Christmas on the frame using the Timeless Tidings Stamp Set*. I stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink, then embossed it with a mixture of Clear Embossing Powder and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter to make it sparkle. Of course, I used my Stamparatus for perfect placement.

Back to the card

Finally, I added a few snowflakes, die-cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper using the Blizzard Thinlits Die*. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add them to the card, then covered the centers with Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets*.

I love the Balmy Blue/Night of Navy combination for Christmas, don’t you? It was my favorite, until Rose’s Merry Merlot and Silver combo for our make & take. Gorgeous! I’ll post it tomorrow!
