Stamp Off Thanksgiving Challenge
It’s another Stamp Off Friday! This time, we have a Fall/Thanksgiving Challenge.
(Thank you, Stampin’ Up!®, for the image for our challenge!)
We have so many options for fall and Thanksgiving this year. I love the Country Home Stamp Set, and I almost used it for the challenge. But Christy designed a super fun card for the residents at Spring Arbor yesterday, and I wanted to use that idea.
The idea I took from Christy was the embossed and die-cut leaves. She used a different leaf, but the Seasonal Layers Thinlits leaves worked great for this.
Creating the Leaves
First, die cut the open leaf from Crumb Cake Cardstock using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. Then, use the Big Shot Embossing Mats to emboss the veins on the leaves. Place the die-cut into the detailed leaf die, then make your sandwich. From the bottom up, you’ll have the Big Shot Platform, cutting plate, die with the cardstock inside (facing up), then the blue silicone rubber mat, and finally the white impressions pad. I used the thicker gray mat the first time, and it almost cut all the way through. It gives a deeper impression, but it was almost too deep for my taste (look at the difference between the Cherry Cobbler top leaf and the other two to see what I’m talking about). If you like the more detailed embossing, you’ll want to use the gray mat.
Sponge classic ink on the leaves to give them color. I used Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie. Then I added a little Clear Wink of Stella for a bit of glimmer (because even though it’s fall, we have ice in our forecast today).
Stamp the tree line from the Winter Woods Stamp Set from the Holiday Catalog multiple times in Sahara Sand Classic Stampin’ Ink on a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. I used the Stamparatus to make it easy to line them up. Simply stamp, then move the plate, ink the stamp, and stamp again. And again, and…you get the idea.
Putting it Together
Create a Pumpkin Pie card base by scoring an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of cardstock at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Layer a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock over the card base, then add a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper over the Cherry Cobber layer. Finally, add the stamped layer. Adhere the leaves using Stamping Dimensionals.
Stamp Happy Thanksgiving from the Pleasant Pheasants Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler Classic ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Punch with the Pretty Label Punch, then trim the top and bottom from the punch to create a long oval. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
