On a personal note, thank you all for the well wishes and prayers for our Max. He is doing very well and is almost back to normal. His eye is still a bit red, but he can close it now, and it’s not as swollen. (This is an older photo. This is what he’s supposed to look like.) He also seems to feel fine. The only bad news is Max is a Boston Terrier/Pug mix. That means he has a smooshed up face and snores. A lot. This hasn’t been a problem; he and Mike snore some awesome duets at night. But since he has an E-collar (aka Elizabethan Collar; aka cone of shame; aka megaphone) the snoring is magnified. Mike and I are exhausted, because he has decided he should sleep with us and snore in our ears. Max has nine years of bad habits we’re trying to break. It’s taking a little time to teach him things – like sleeping at the foot of the bed and not between us. The good news is there’s only another week, so I can probably deal with sleep deprivation that long. Seriously, it’s almost like having a baby. He has meds that have to be delivered every 2, 6, 8, and 12 hours. I think babies were easier! But he goes back to his doctor on Tuesday, so maybe we can drop some soon. At least he’s been a good patient. He is really good at receiving the drops and cream in his eyes, and he loves the treats he gets with the pills. He’s still trying to understand the spacial relationships with the E-collar and is confused about why he can’t squeeze into places he used to fit into.

He’s so much better. And, yes, it’s sweet. His former owners said he didn’t sleep on the bed. Ha ha ha. That’s the first place he went.
