Simple Roots
No, this isn’t another story about my childhood roots. This is about a simple card using the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set from the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog.
How fun is this birthday card?
I did a simple wash technique on Whisper White Cardstock. I’m going to take a guess here and say I used Lemon Lime Twist, Mango Melody, and Poppy Parade, but that could be way off. I don’t have the card any more, so I can’t remember. But those colors would be lovely!
I used an Aqua Painter and Classic Stampin’ Pads for this. When it was completely dry, I stamped the tree from Rooted in Nature using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Because I have a Stamparatus®, I was able to stamp it several times until it was dark enough to suit me. Next time, I’ll die cut the tree with the coordinating Nature’s Roots Framelits Die and Basic Black Cardstock for even more contrast.
The sentiment is from the Special Celebrations Stamp Set, because this was a very special celebration! All the kids were here for dinner to celebrate. So fun! With our crazy schedules, it’s sometimes hard to schedule time together. I so appreciate our kids taking the time to be here, especially since I know they’re all busy and free time is scarce (and cherished). They’re the best!
I mounted the stamped layer to a piece of Basic Black Cardstock, then to the Lemon Lime Twist card. I love the simplicity of this card, and it could easily be used for so many occasions. I plan to make a lot, then add the sentiment later.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day! (And now I’m going to change the blade in my Stampin’ Trimmer. Sheesh! The things you notice when you see a photo of your work!)

Thanks, Jackie! I’m working on it. I have a downline who is a master at this technique. I keep analyzing her cards to see what she’s doing that I can copy. I’m trying to get more “loose” and just have fun with it.
