Country Home

Since I grew up in the country, I usually order every country-type stamp set that Stampin’ Up!® releases. Tractors, cowboy boots, trucks (especially if there are apples in the set), and, of course, the Farmhouse Christmas. I don’t know why it took me so long to order the Country Home Stamp Set, because it is one of my favorites! But I have it now, and it’s a keeper for me.

I love, love, LOVE that milk can. So many things that are trendy now were the norm on the farm. Old metal pitchers and milk cans weren’t fancy when I was a kid, but they do bring back memories! I think that’s why I love this set. It gives me “the feels” from when I was younger.

I loved growing up in the country. There weren’t a lot of kids around – and they were mostly boys. That’s probably why I was such a tomboy. But there was always someplace new to explore, relatives all around, and always fruits, vegetables and meat to eat that we had grown or raised ourselves. (It’s lovely to know where your food came from and to know there’s nothing harmful in it!)

I remember a girl in sixth grade talking about a fancy dinner her family was having. Roast beef, green beans, and potatoes were on the menu. I thought, “That’s not fancy; that’s Wednesday supper and Sunday dinner.” Because we raised beef cattle, steak and roast beef were staples at our house. I had an awesome childhood!

As inspiration for this card, I used the Country Lane samples in the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog. I changed the colors a bit from the milk can image on page 42. I stamped the milk can and floral images in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. I used Lovely Lipstick, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, and Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends. I love these markers. They make everyone look like an artist.

I rounded the edges of the Whisper White layer using the Detailed Trio punch, then added strips of the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the top and bottom of the layer.

The Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) is part of the Country Lane Suite, which includes the Country Lane DSP, Galvanized Metallic Paper – which is awesome embossed with the Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF – and the Blackberry Bliss and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends and more. I used it to emboss the Lovely Lipstick layer, then added everything to a Lemon Lime Twist card base.

I hoard embellishments, so I decided to add a bunch of the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls to this card. They’re so lovely and delicate, and they’re a perfect complement to this stamp set, because they’re so not “country.” It’s kind of like pairing flannel and lace, or burlap and silk. They’re kind of unexpected.
