Watercolor Wash Stamp Off

Watercolor Wash Stamp Off

It’s Friday! Welcome to the latest Stamp Off Challenge. This time, it’s a technique challenge.

I love doing a watercolor wash background, so I had a blast with this challenge. I’m in a swap with some friends, and I received a card today from Sandy. I almost posted it, because she used this technique on her card. It’s beautiful! I’ll post hers next week, but this is my card for the challenge.

Colorful Seasons, Stampin' Up!

I saw an idea like this on a stamping group page on Facebook. It was a Halloween card, so I changed the colors to make it more versatile.

I used Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel, and Balmy Blue for my wash. The Blueberry Bushel and Granny Apple Green blended together, so it all looks like Balmy Blue, but there is Blueberry Bushel in there, trust me. Watercolor Paper is perfect for this challenge. The color blends so well when you use Watercolor Paper. I squeezed my stamp pad to get ink in the lid, then picked up the color with an Aqua Painter. (You really can do this with the new stamp pads. You just may have to squeeze a little harder, but it’s possible. If you can’t get ink in the lid – I’m a pianist, so my fingers may be stronger – simply add a drop of ink refill in the lid. Easy!)

After the wash dried, I added the Basic Gray punched cat with some Silver Metallic Thread. I added a smile to my cat’s face so it would tie in with the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.

This card was inspired by our cat Ashlynn. She is so funny. She was abandoned as a kitten, so she’s a little skittish. She’s calmed down quite a bit, but she still has her moments. She’s finally making friends with Max, our new dog. She’s almost the same size, so I suppose he’s a little less intimidating.

Ashlynn loves boxes and bags. Whenever we have a box that hasn’t been disposed of yet, or if she finds an empty shopping bag or gift bag, she’s all in. I think they make her feel safe.

Colorful Seasons, Stampin' Up!

This is Ashlynn tonight. This box isn’t empty; it contains headlights for my car. That doesn’t matter to Ashlynn. She has also taken possession of two dog beds. Silly cat. She always makes me smile.

Please take a few minutes to check out Jackie’s and Susan’s watercolor wash posts. I can’t wait to see what they have done!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, Jackie! I always feel a little like I’m controlling the wash too much. But this was fun, and I needed to use my cat for something besides things for Amelia to play with and count!

The was is so pretty, and I love both cats – real and cardstock! Ashlynn is such a pretty cat – and cleary knows the “if I fits, I sits” cat credo!
