Eastern Beauty

The Stampin’ Up! Eastern Beauty Stamp Set has been out for over a year, but I just got it. It’s a lovely set, and it coordinates with the Eastern Medallions Thinlits and Layering Circles Framelits Dies.

Eastern Beauty, Stampin' Up!

I used my Stamparatus and a very cool template Susan made me to make this. You can see the template and another creation I made with it here. Basically, I placed the template in my Stamparatus, lay the cardstock inside, and positioned the corner stamp where I wanted it. Then I stamped on the Coastal Cabana Cardstock with Bermuda Bay ink, turned the cardstock, and stamped in the next corner. I repeated this until all four corners were stamped. Then I sponged around the outside of the square.

After I stamped the sentiment in the center of the square, it looked a little blah. I decided to die-cut it with one of the Eastern Medallions Thinlits, back the negative space with a piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock, then sponge around it with more Bermuda Bay ink. I popped the sentiment back in using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a double layer for a little extra pop.

The picture looks very dark purple, but I actually used a card base of Gorgeous Grape. I pulled a piece out, and I had already embossed it using the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies and Big Shot Embossing Mats, so this card went very quickly! That was good, because my little sidekick was also in my craft room painting. Amelia loves to paint, but I often hear, “Oops, I spilled my water!” or “Oh, my (whatever she’s painting) fell on the floor, but it’s ok!” (The carpet, however…) My crafting this past week has been in three-minute spurts, broken by mopping up water or cleaning paint out of a carpet. I really have to get a mat for under her table – and maybe under my table as well!

The final touch was to add a few Rhinestones Basic Jewels to the card. I usually go really overboard with the sparkle (but, really, can you have too much sparkle?), so I used a lighter touch this time. I think I may go back and add a couple more.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day! Be sure to check in tomorrow for our Friday challenge. It’s a fun one!
