“Grape” Friends

Every month, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators have the opportunity to gather to share ideas, discuss business tips, and talk about what’s new at Stampin’ Up! We also have a Make & Take, yummy snacks, and a challenge to work on for the next month.

Our challenge for this month’s meeting is to create a project using a color combination that isn’t in the online Color Coach. (I’m also the Make & Take Hostess this month, so it’s also the Make & Take card!) My color combination is Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, and Coastal Cabana.

Blended Seasons, Stampin' Up!

This is a super simple card, so it’s perfect for classes or workshops – and it includes a technique and new product. (Plus, the colors are yummy, don’t you think?)

First, I used the new Watercolor Pencils (and one “old” one) to create a fun wash on the 3-1/2″ x 4″ Shimmery White layer. Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators can order the new pencils (and the Blended Seasons Stamp Set, Stitched Seasons Framelits, or Blended Seasons Bundle – the stamps and framelits bundled at a 10% discount – also used on the card) in July, but these products will be available to everyone in August. The stamps and framelits are a limited time offer, but the new Watercolor Pencils may end up in a future publication. In any case, right now, you’ll only be able to order them in August (and July, if you’re a demo).

I scribbled Gorgeous Grape on the bottom of the Shimmery White layer, then used an Aqua Painter to blend it out. In the middle, is Bermuda Bay (from the current set). The top third is Coastal Cabana, another new pencil. (I’m in love! Almost all of my favorite colors are now available. Oh, my heart!)

While my Shimmery White panel was drying, I used the new Embossing Mats and the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies to emboss the front of the Gorgeous Grape Card. I love the Embossing Mats, because they double the impact of your thinlit/framelit  investment. You can die-cut or emboss. So cool! (I posted a video with instructions, tips, and ideas for using the Embossing Mats in this post.)

The little bow is from the Stitched Seasons Framelits. So cute! I die-cut it from the center of the 4-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ Bermuda Bay layer. I mean, you’re not going to see that part of the layer anyway, right?

I adhered the Bermuda Bay Cardstock layer to the embossed Gorgeous Grape card base. When the Shimmery White layer was dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Blended Seasons Stamp Set in Bermuda Bay, added the bow with a Fine-Tip Glue Pen, then adhered it to the Bermuda Bay layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Please drop in tomorrow to see another variation of the watercolor wash with pencils in our Stamp-Off Challenge! I always look forward to seeing what Jackie & Susan have created for our challenges. (It’s not a wash or a pencil challenge, by the way.)

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
